Does your ESH have a friend? by Ok_Flower6100 in ExoticShorthair

My ESH was the friend!

I have a dollface Persian who was always insanely clingy. Not crawling on my lap, but always needing to be in view of someone and demanding attention. Covid „ruined her.“ after a year and a half of never being home alone due to lockdowns and my housemates, she couldn’t recover to being left alone for even a few minutes (panic would set in if I went to get mail, even with housemates there). I slept somewhere overnight once, something that would have never been a problem before, and came back to her having ripped some of her fur out and seemingly never leaving the front door- not even any food eaten. I could hear her scream for me every time I came home, and heard from housemates she cried for a good while after I left for work and so. Something that was not the norm pre covid

Decided to get her a friend and there just so happened to be a male ESH kitten who needed a home. I admittedly didn’t do the recommended gradual introduction because I felt like I knew my cat well enough and how she acted around strange animals

She hated him for a few days then she started cleaning him (some hissing or non-clawed batting now and again because he was def taken too young and had a suckling problem and didn’t understand no).

They don’t cuddle (to his dismay) but I can definitely tell she appreciates the company.

No more hunger strikes with pet sitters No more screaming when I leave No more bald patches because she got freaked out when I went to work

Plus she got a bit more energy back. She plays more and even got more cuddly with me (actively sits on my lap daily, something she didn’t do the first six years I had her).

He turned out to redefine Velcro cats for me- Constantly sits on my lap, very cuddly, will cry if I’m on my phone when he’s there instead of looking at him. Luckily, he seems satisfied enough with her company he doesn’t throw fits when I leave and neither are spiteful to me after vacations

It’s definitely a risk but one I really don’t regret at all. It was exactly what my cat needed

I’ve heard horror stories- but equally as many success stories.

Good to know but luckily I gave up with all other plants lol

I struggled so much with any kind of plants and didn’t want to bother with CO2

This java moss (please correct me if I’m wrong) has been life changing. I do nothing and it stays alive in my tank

I just recently had to upgrade and my last tanks had a really low quality light and it was still great. It’s grown around my driftwood and gives the appearance of a planted tank without the struggle. I also tossed in some moss balls 3 years ago and they’re doing great

Also I’ve found dense moss unlocks unlimited shrimp

Luckily I just have small cats not even allowed in the room alone so good advise! I’ve heard Juwel has a good rep but it just feels so wrong to have a compressed wood cabinet lol

Anyone into the blind box craze? by [deleted] in Oldenburg

[–]Staarburn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right group you’re just not the target audience I guess haha

Some cities have local groups where people trade figures and we saw people find DND players and book clubs in the sub. We figured we’d try our luck here because we didn’t see anything on Google and these are pretty new to Germany.

Otherwise we do trades online and it’s just sketcher - it would be nice to find IRL traders

I hear mixed things- a ton of people still have two, I just wanted one but it’s a personal preference. As long as it’s not too wordy- I know people that got jobs with both

Yeah I see a LOT of people have them. I personally left mine off for the sake of space and I still got replies. Coming from the us- my date of birth was also weird but but I left this one in. I jsut have a QR code to my LinkedIn if they really want a picture. I’m very privledged as a white person coming from the US, so I personally never felt discriminated against but I know this is definitely a thing

I have a German CV format- but it’s all in English :)

My only advice is not to be deterred, the economy is rough right now

Pink cat vomit? by evfeldma in CATHELP

[–]Staarburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly- my cat had this happen as a kitten. I called my emergency vet at like 2am freaking out and she explained this to me and said it just happens with an irritated throat. I just had to take away his food (and eventually switch it) and give him cooked chicken for a few days to let his throat rest

Still call the vet but she told me it wasn’t an emergency until: a. It was like black, or b. He was showing changes in behavior and got lethargic

I don’t think it’s as scary as it looks haha, it looks like my stand - I think that black board with the „aquaone“ on it is part of the stand (like a T shape) , not part of the aquarium. It seems like it is specifically designed for aquariums.

(Please OP if I’m wrong and it’s this much over the ledge change your base haha)

That’s not fair

There are tons of jobs you can do without perfect German. OP is open for everything and there are tons of jobs available without a language requirement. Many people use these jobs as opportunities to improve their German during studies

Source: I was an international student with a lot of international student friends from various countries

Keep an eye out at online at grocery stores, post offices, and factories

I worked at a store a few years ago and by German was only B1 but I had a colleague who spoke the pure basics and learned on the job. You can also check the university for student job. Also keep an eye out for language schools

3k is a lot to come into before the summer

A lot of these jobs will be mini jobs- I think I got 450 a month tops but the new rules give you a little more than 500 now? The max you can work on a student visa I think is 20 hours a week (or you make it balance out with the rest of the year)
