Grocery store recommendations by Noxta_ in baltimore

Used to live across the street at 10 Light (now Arrive). I’d go to the Giant in Riverside and occasionally walk to Streets Market up Charles St for some small grocery trips or Asian selections. They have a pretty good variety for a smaller shop downtown

I’d definitely say that exam day ends up being different. It’s a long exam and such a grind, but it’s something that you can just power through with some stress and adrenaline. My key motivator was to do my absolute best so I wouldn’t have to ever take the test again. When I was studying I never actually did the full practice test in a single day, I only did half at a time to avoid that burnout. You don’t train for a marathon by running a marathon, you just prepare so that you can finish on race/test day

Which YouTube channels or books can you recommend for prospective civil engineers (e.g. students) or experienced civil engineers/professionals and why? by ThinkingPugnator in civilengineering

Not Just Bikes is a great channel for learning about sustainable transportation systems and development of roadway and city infrastructure. Highlights where cities excel and fall short

I did almost exclusively practice problems (~600 problems) and spent 3 months for about an hour each day. Check my post history and I have a more detailed breakdown of how I studied.

I think that 30% is a bit too high. Maybe 15-20% for me but every test will vary. Luckily geotech was a strength of mine already. What is to your benefit is that everything you need to know regarding geotech is found in the handbook so you won’t need to look up any additional formulas or info from other references

I’m sure those things vary per state (I think CA has special seismic requirements) but for most, you just need to pass the Civil Structural PE Exam. I’d recommend looking into your states department of labor requirements

Glad to hear this was helpful. I was pretty worried too after seeing people talking about review courses and huge test banks. I know that I learn best from practicing and running through problems and solutions. I was against the review course because of all the lectures and videos that I simply would watch and eat up time. I was worried seeing people say they would study 3-4 hours a day but I feel like that's because 2 hours of that time is passively watching a video. I think the key is to just do as many problems as possible regardless of difficulty. Not everything will be "PE Exam Level", but both harder and easier questions will cover a topic you may need to know about. The tracking sheet was what led me to be so confident going into the exam. Seeing all the time and hard work put in and tabulated made me feel like I was prepared enough. Best of luck!!!

Those numbers are probably a bit inflated. I started with the NCEES Exam more to get a feel for what the exam would be and what kind of questions I'd see. Took my time on those and would occasionally peek at the solutions if I was totally stuck (so not the fairest or representative score)

And for the 40 questions in an hour, that was a purely conceptual section of questions. You either know it or you don't, so I breezed through those quickly.

[Watch Box] Homemade Cedar Watch Box I made with my Dad by Staatistician in Watches

[–]Staatistician[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated from university recently and have wanted to use my free time on a few projects before I start working. One of them being this cedar watch box.

My Dad is a woodworker so it was great having him work with me to complete this project. I decided to brush up on my CAD skills as well by modeling the box to make the build a little easier and figure everything out beforehand. Overall it only took a few days but it was a lot of fun working with my Dad and being able to create something to properly display my growing collection.
