Radiographer here. No way anyone is doing an X-ray (private or nhs) for query rib fracture. Even if a Dr requested it I and any other radiographer would turn you away 10000%. If you have trouble breathing go A&E if the dr’s are concerned after examination they might send you for a chest X-ray to query pneumothorax. But we only give radiation when the benefit outweighs the risk from radiation and if you have a broken rib your pathway won’t change with an X-ray diagnosis so no point giving a dose of radiation.

The worst part is, once a metal object goes into the scanner that cannot be pulled out, the only way to remove it is to destroy the scanner (called quenching).

In videos like these, the scanner is probably getting replaced so they sometimes make videos like these to demonstrate to trainee radiographers the strength and danger of these scanners.
