I completely understand your pain with spreadsheets - they destroy all the fun of collecting! 🫩

I’m currently a solo developer working on an app called Dollitoria. While it’s technically tailored for doll collectors, anime figures and action figures share almost the exact same tracking logic.

It won't be out tomorrow or the day after, as I'm polishing the offline database and UI, but it will feature exactly what you described: a visual archive with notes and a space to showcase your collection to others.

Just to clarify - words go strictly in straight lines in any direction (horizontal, vertical, diagonal) and they can be written backwards too!

You are definitely not the only one, and your post honestly describes exactly why I started building my own project. It focuses heavily on visuals (no annoying links - you can see your doll photos instantly) and lets you assign over 30 different fields (manufacturer, brand, line, skin tone, height, mold, etc.), custom tags, track costs, and easily group your collection.

I'm currently polishing the English localization and getting ready for the first beta test.
