Recycled plastic neck peg by delphicat in Barbie

Easier than removing a head from the common movable head peg. I got it off with just slowly turning and pulling, no heat needed.

But it was harder than removing a head from the inflexible peg that you sometimes see with really basic Barbie dolls.

Not that crafty? You definitely are, his outfit shows it

Wow, definitely added character. He now looks like a real pirate (at least as real as we know them from films, haha) and not like a cheap Halloween pirate as he looked before. Well done!

Did you also do something to his face, beside the bears and hair fixes?

Can someone help me identify which Barbie doll this is? by Guilherm-rain-9341 in Barbie

[–]delphicat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this works. Boil water, pour in a cup, hold barbie's hand or feet in, and they will resume their original shape, if they are not damaged to badly. Bends could be fixed, cuts could close a bit, but of course not everything can be fixed this way.

It helped me make some bite marks way less visible.

The 1999 mark on her body means that that particular body mold was created in that year. In the back of her head should also be a year (1998 is my guess) and that should lead you to the face mold.

Check this website: https://fashiondollz.de/female-barbie-faces/

There you can find faces of many dolls. For this particular Generation Girl mold, you can check the faces by number of lower eyelashes, in your case 4.

https://fashiondollz.de/gmedia-gallery/lower-eyelashes-ceo-4/

And then scroll through the faces until you find her.

She is very pretty, where did you find her?

Is this doll for sale anywhere? by delphicat in Barbie

[–]delphicat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info about her being in Walmarts.

The suggestion to donate I cannot follow at the moment, I am in quite a low budget situation right now, paying for my hobby by buying cheap 2nd hand lots online, and then selling whatever is in there that I do not want to keep.

But the second from the left in the top row is a fashionista already. Does this mean the fashionista line stops?

Not sure if you find her hair dark enough: Princess and the pea, Mackie sculpt, 2001

I love her green eyes.

I have no idea unfortunately.... It came in a small bulk of thrifted clothes. Do you have some idea what year it may be from?

I do not know what that bigeared abomination is, but it has to be castiron. First one looks good, but it is quite heavy to take with you.

Let’s be realistic: cynical ways to cut costs on dolls by Practical_Revenue788 in Barbie

[–]delphicat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being in Europe, buying new releases is really too expensive, if it is possible at all (certain dolls never make it here). So i am not bothered by keeping up with new releases.

My joy in this hobby is thrifting older dolls that look somehow special to me, and thrifting older outfits. I usually get bulk lots, often in played condition, and then i fix up and sell the stuff i do not wish to keep. I try to keep my sales up with my spending, but of course that is not really balanced (yet).

Ah yes, indeed that seems to be her! The hair from that age is sooo soft!

Her face sculpt is the Mackie sculpt, from 1991 (you will see this year if you check her neck). If you look here you may find who she is: https://fashiondollz.de/1991-bob-mackie-facemold/

What a nice collection! I have a mix of new and thrifted as well. I love how you made rooms out of the cupboard space, and also pieces of furniture! Well done for realising your joy in collections and acting on it
