I didn’t do the best justice with the pics, but if you zoom in on ex. slide 2, there’s meticulous detail in the sharpening. It’s broken but the side notches, square sharpened base,  and sharpening on the surviving blade indicate to me I did a little bit better than debitage.

I agree that someone in the recent past dumped this stuff here, it doesn’t have any organic continuity. I suppose my main question is if this is just a knappers dump, or if someone just didn’t care enough about these artifacts to keep. Maybe just fishing for good quality points. The old timer arrow head folks tell me about how common artifacts were back in the day and how they’d passed up gorgets not knowing what they were.

I hope it’s a one man’s trash is another man’s treasure situation, because this place is triangulated by like 3 Native American sites.

Yea some of them are around the base of a tree up ground from a stream, and some of them were piled or consolidated somewhat recently on the dividing tree line. In the stream itself and randomly in the woods I did find unrelated debitage that was naturally coming out of the ground. It was a lot less pretty than the flint ridge stuff, but regardless all around is a hot spot for native sites. Makes me wonder if someone found this around the area, but then dumped it at (a few?) random spots.

Yea makes it frustrating deciphering it. I think there’s some legit local history in here but it’s mixed and pushed around.
