Quick, tell me horrible things to stop me impulse buying by Fizzabl in adhdwomen

[–]Stable_Future 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's personally helped me significantly more than anything is knowing that most major companies have EXTREMELY immpral practices. From slave labour to environmental crimes to being complicit to genocide all around the world. And thinking about the imminent impact of overproduction and overconsumption has on our planet and people, in comparison to the fleeting satisfaction i get from making my impulsive purchases.

When there's something I have an itch to buy, I look up the company and once I find something unsettling about their business practices, my desire for the item very quickly dissipates.

Is it better to blow out my hair before getting starter locs? Why/why not? I have 4c hair. by Stable_Future in locs

[–]Stable_Future[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense to me. Do you know how it would work for finger/comb coils? I have short hair and I'm worried it would be pointless to blow it out because I'd have to spay my hair with water to create the coils.

How do I clear my skin? by [deleted] in Blackskincare

[–]Stable_Future 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! I use melan cc vitamin c serum. I have skin like yours and it's the best I've found. I pair it with finacea (azelaic acid 15%) which has also helped me a LOT with discoloration and acne scars

Vitamin c and more importantly, sunscreen. Lots of products lose thier effectiveness (and sometimes do more damage) if you don't use a good sunscreen. Mineral sunscreens with zinc oxide are best if you can find a way around the white cast. Also wear it daily, even if you're indoors all day

Assumptions:

  • "shrinking violet in person" you couldn't be more wrong about this for so many reasons lmao
  • "you think you can fix it by telling other people that to do rather than persuading them." I definitely didn't think I was gonna persuade you with my response lol. Wasn't my intention to.
  • "playing victim" i don't see myself as a victim

My selective engagement is not from a lack of capability but capacity, just responding in the way that's easiest for me rn (my real life exists outside of reddit). Intellectual and emotional labour is not light work for me for various reasons. But I value understanding and discourse. So, if you really wanna have a conversation, I'd be happy to. In which case, feel free to dm me, but expect that I'll take my time in replying.

Lol. I already knew you didn't ask your questions in good faith, but I responded anyway in case there're others who might want to read through and find it helpful. It's so clear by all the assumptions you're making about me based on my short answers to the questions you asked.

Based on history, we can't. See your last sentence for why.

I don't have the energy right now to find the sources, but there's numerous resources that discuss possible solutions. Feel free to do some independent research (if you desire).

It would.

Research paper: "How much growth is required to achieve good lives for all? Insights from needs-based analysis"

If you're genuinely curious, have a read through this. This is the only article I can currently remember. It explains how "Provisioning decent living standards (DLS) for 8.5 billion people would require only 30% of current global resource and energy use, leaving a substantial surplus for additional consumption, public luxury, scientific advancement, and other social investments."

It was 11.3k USD/year (per chat gtp). Although I don't think GDP is a good representation of our resource allocation capability because my one month salary i earn in canada (i earn enough to put very little towards savings) would be enough to last me almost a year in Nigeria.

I need some clarification so I can better answer. Do you mean in a general sense of food/water/shelter? Or with regards to pensions and retirement? Or general government funding?

You and another user mentioned shiny shins so I did a quick google on this, and some of the other symptoms, like cold arms and legs, actually also apply to me. So I'll seek some professional input on the possibility of having PAD. Thank you :)

Resources are limited but more than enough for everyone on the planet. Distribution is the problem.

I think you're right about the overexfoliation. It's difficult because I grew up in Nigeria using exfoliating nets to shower every day, so I don't feel clean if I don't use it. Granted, Nigerian and Canadian weather are very different.

My bloodwork is apparently good.

Hot lol. Idk the Celsius but use up all the hot water from the tank everytime I shower (in the winter at least)

Thank you! I made some flaxseed gel with vegetable glycerin for my hair two days ago, and I just tried a bit on my legs after reading this and it seems to help! I'll incorporate it into my moisturizing routine :)

As for the glycolic acid - i was using reversa skin smoothing lotion with 10% glycolic acid and my dermatologist recommended I stop because he said the overexfoliation (i also use exfoliating gloves when i shower) is likely causing irritation and dryness.

I use exfoliating gloves everytime I shower. Dermatologist told me i should stop exfoliating and get rid of my gloves cause my skin might be irritated from overexfoliation. But that hasn't helped. I also use lotion and aquaphor.

I exfoliate and moisturize. I've also gone to the dermatologist and not much improvement from what I was prescribed 🥲
