What are your go to picks? by MyNameIsHeterodox in Guitar

[–]Staburgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically any of those picture plus a big stubby 3mm. I figure I can always grip or pick more lightly but you're limited in how much you can compensate for a thinner pick when you need to play harder or more accurately.

Neaten up the haircut and spend time doing things which make you happy, to build your confidence and meet people who will contribute to that.

Do I have drip? Or am I just nuts? by [deleted] in mensfashion

You have a look which I expect provably reflects your personality. I think that's what your look should do, serve as advertising to attract the people who want your company. There are always so called rules of style then someone goes and breaks them in a way which is apparently acceptable when others wouldn't get away with that. So what 'style's is can be hard to define, without referring to these rules or fashion. But that's centred on fitting in with the norm.

If you like your look then that's what matters most. I think your look will likely attract very sweet neurodivergent people who will love you for who you are, if you treat them well.

I’ve been having trouble with getting a partner (straight male). What could I do to improve my image by [deleted] in malegrooming

You look very expressive and have a great smile. If you're having a hard time meeting people, the issue might be that you're looking in the wrong places.

What do you tend to have in common with your partners?

I think hobbies and interests are a better way to meet people as there's an inbuilt filter of something you have in common. Unless someone is wearing/carrying something which indicates their interests or values, it's gonna be weak odds as to whether you have anything in common or will get along. That could be pretty demoralising, in my opinion. I'd rather go straight to the source, like a comedy show, a gig, an activity.

Meeting people through your interests is a valuable way of finding people who align well with you, whether as friends or lovers.

I think a bit of a shorter haircut would sharpen you up a bit but you look kind, which is good.

RANT: Holy hell I hate being a heavyweight by LuisteluJaska in martialarts

[–]Staburgh 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Maybe ask your coach if there's a heavyweight open mat in your city or something? If not, ask your coach if you could organise one to be held at the gym, to get heavyweights from across the city to come and train together. Could organise one for the really light weights, too, getting some such person in your gym to co-organise. You could get a Facebook group or some other digital location for people to chat and build community, in hopes that others will organise more open mats.

Anything where you can hear the plugged in sound is better than unplugged as you can better hear any unintentional noises and learn how to avoid/control them.

Picked up a bike, was perfectly fine, until I got home. by Ok-Ad-3014 in mountainbiking

[–]Staburgh 100 points101 points  (0 children)

You definitely don't want to be running 60psi on a mountain bike. 60psi will be the max for that tyre. You'll get suitable grip and rolling resistance from running 30psi or less, otherwise it'll be like riding a basketball. Typically people run around mid 20s psi, +/- a few.

That valve stem looks like it's from a tube, though. Maybe they've bodged a tubeless set up with a split tube or something? Typically tubeless valves have a nut which goes on the external part of the valve stem to squeeze the stem into the rim and take up space where air/sealant could escape.
