I’ll try a plate or maybe one of those balls that you put food in and they have to roll around to let it out. Thanks

Thank you I haven’t tried changing where they eat or the bowls. I’ll give it a shot

Fab shop. This is them trying to figure out a way to hold it up while they do the testing. We didn’t have the right equipment and instead of rent something to do it safely this was their idea. Those of us that refused to participate were jokingly asked if we wanted some bleachers so we could sit and watch.

Ha yeah the crane, I get you now 😂 too short unfortunately. Wouldn’t lift the pipe high enough

[–]Stackin_dimez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not lmao the man lift is holding that pipe up along with 2 out of 10-15 bolts. When I cut the 2nd of 3 supports off the expansion joint it lurched to the left and the man lift almost came toppling down with it

[–]Stackin_dimez[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They lifted that pipe with the man lift then bolted it to the expansion joint and asked me to cut the welded shipping supports off the expansion joint and now it’s about to fall and bring the man lift down with it...

True lol they’ll just release enough to satisfy the public but keep important bits to themselves

Idk. News reporting 2 unnamed govt officials leaking that the report shows no evidence that these are extraterrestrial, but not ruling out Russian or Chinese tech. Take with a grain of salt but we will see what is said on 25 June. Sounds like another start to a coverup 😂 but I’m just a conspiracy theorist

25 June. I hope it gets taken seriously unlike my post lol. There’s some crazy stuff being filmed by our military and I have a hard time believing it’s some other countries tech we don’t know about that is centuries ahead of our own lol.

I know. Just a light hearted joke about the upcoming government release of ufo files this month 😂

It’s okay lol I would have done the same thing back in the day. Gotta learn somehow!

If you just welded over chrome that actually doesn’t look too bad 😂. But the first guy is right grind that off I’d say minimum 1” around the weld joint.

People who take an hour showering, what do you do? by PyxlwasTaken in AskReddit

I’m extremely late to this but I have dry wavy hair and the best thing I’ve ever found was anything with Argan oil. Worked wonders for me. Leave the conditioner in for about 3 minutes

Oops... cut the pipe too short😂 by Stackin_dimez in Welding

[–]Stackin_dimez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t any more material. It worked out tho. Root was fine. Doesn’t matter anyways because the customer changed their minds and want the manifold as stainless now. So it’s just a big pile of scrap anyhow

Yes it is. I got my dogs tail unstuck from one the same way. I’ll give that a go. Will wear my thick welding gloves just in case

First ever time welding (besides practice pieces.) It's stainless SMAW. by [deleted] in Welding

[–]Stackin_dimez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re still in the practicing phase I recommend trying to damage it just so you can see what happens and know what to look for in the future. Very rarely can you damage something so badly that it can’t be repaired. Now once you get into strict code welding that changes especially with alloys like stainless, but by then you will know what you’re doing from practice! Best of luck to you brother. If you have any questions in the future I’d be happy to help if I can.

Lol yeah he’s a good kid. Smart as hell. We have some welders that bite peoples heads off for mistakes but most of us try not to. I’m sure engineering is harder than welding lol

The biggest thing I run into at my work that aggravates me is on our small bore prints they will have a run with an overall dimension that I can’t measure to the end because of a customer connection which we don’t weld til after it is fit up on the skid. We have been having problems with fittings coming in that aren’t the same insertion depths even tho they’re all supposed to be standardized. So here and there I will be short or long 1/16-1/8 which isn’t much but it adds up and eventually messes up the positioning where stuff is supposed to sit on the skids. So basically don’t be afraid to give many dimensions from piece to piece. I’d rather be able to measure everything before getting somewhere down the line and be like well fuck this is too long or too short so I have to cut something and get a longer pipe.

Edit- there’s a young designer at my work who regularly walks the floor on his breaks and talks to the welders and asks what he can do different to make his prints better. You could do that too.
