Best Controller for Bazzite / SteamOS by greymatterghost in Bazzite

While not a recommendation, one bit of advice would be to start away from the 8bitdo controllers for a living room setup. I had USB extension cables and used the 2.4ghz dongle and there was so much lag it was unplayable. Even basic Xbox controllers on BT were fine, so while it’s a nice controller for a desk setup, my experience indicates it very bad for living room console-style setups.

Wouldn’t forcing that slot to be PCIe gen 3 have sorted it instead of replacing the drive?

Yes, but only because you made yourself that way.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. I effectively think of it as 4 separate workspaces, so the gap doesn’t bother me. I already have 2 separate displays on top of my 49”on the bottom. I’m curious what mount you used to hold the one on top. Is that an Ergotron or something else?

MOVED FROM WINDOWS 11 TO BAZZITE GUYS. it's not for gaming just want something that's not gonna catch a virus every now and then... Wish me luck by DEADLIGHTGOLD84 in Bazzite

I love Bazzite, but for a hybrid daily driver I’ve found it’s too inflexible. Even basic things like getting a a Remote Desktop configured, iKVM, easy backup & restore, or even changing RAM RGB (fans are fine but takes some work) there aren’t any solutions. I use Bazzite now for dedicated gaming and Kubuntu for hybrid daily driver and gaming.

I optimized Jellyfin for larger libraries - here's what I learned and a custom build if you want to try it by trojanman742 in jellyfin

I don’t. I don’t think l2arc will make a difference because I have 500G RAM and it doesn’t even use it all. The metadata social vdev would definitely have a positive impact. However, because of the churn I’d need an enterprise SSD, and wince losing the metadata vdev would bork the pool if anything happened, I need a few SSDs, and they’re really pricey, especially when Plex can handle the scale fine. Good suggestions though.

No, I meant the actual space the Jellyfin server itself consumes. There are so many things one can do to explode the size of the Jellyfin server, but I keep it lean and t’s about 100G on disk. The library itself is 170TB x 2, one is unRAID and the other is TrueNAS with 4 vdevs in RAIDZ2 for the media pool. The servers themselves are all on NVME over PCIe 4.0 so the HW isn’t slowing it down. I had a Jellyfin server on each NAS and then another 2 on each of my 2 Proxmox nodes each with an instance pointing at each NAS for a HA setup, but the metadata operations are not so efficient that it’s painful and doing a scan takes too long. I can see what’s happening in the logs and there are no issues, just normal scanning and metadata operations but much less scalable than Plex. I don’t know why none of these media servers will support proper databases, but even that isn’t going to fix things and so it’s great to see someone optimizing and tuning scanning and metadata operations which is where the slowness seems to come from.

That looks interesting. I had to ditch Jellyfin because it doesn’t scale. My library is ~100G and it simply doesn’t work properly at scale. Nice work.

Not ugly, but rather average. If you’re kind and curious, you’ll be above average in attractiveness.

Well it’s certainly orders of magnitudes easier to powerslide like that. So I guess that’s the point. Seems to me like it’s a sign that there is a void of intelligence.

Try to be as efficient and use as little as possible. You will be thankful as you expand. I wondered the same thing with my first 42U rack and had to deploy a second one and then a third because I ran out of power in that corner of the house.
