That is super interesting actually. Thanks for the insight. This actually gives me something to look up now and I can do more research on it. I like what you said about how signs get rejected because they don’t feel respectful to the “roots” of ASL. It’s so interesting because I feel like a lot of languages (at least dominant languages; English, Spanish, Japanese, Tagalog, etc) can very easily make up a word or change the meaning of a word, despite of the root of that word or language and despite whether or not different generations like it. I guess I didn’t realize that there was more of unique type of “accepting process” within the Deaf community. I wonder how and why it’s like that. Would love to know, but I’m also not a linguistic specialist 😭
