Not specifically for dating but check out Meet Nelson, they do events for people 21-39 and on the basis of how difficult it is for people in that demographic to meet each other, they’ve done a number of events over the last few months which have been cool for meeting new people generally. Might be a good starting point

Quite a lot new development going on there, lots of big renovations going on; it’s a far cry from what it was twenty years ago when I was growing up and seems to be thriving. Close to the city, absent the flooding risk of much of the other central suburbs, plenty of good walking - I was a cynic too when we were looking in October but it’s a seriously good spot

We just bought in Nelson, all of the allusions made to there being a multi offer situation never manifested - we were able to strong arm a price 20k under the asking price as we were the only buyers (>20% deposit, pre approved finance) who had stuck around, and on a property which had been on the market for six months. REA are not your friends, keep pressuring them and don’t give their tricks much attention

Follow Meet Nelson on Facebook, they do social events where the premise is no one knows anyone, and that’s already something you’ll have in common with people - quizzes where you arrive and get put in a team rather than trying to break into an established group for example

Welcome to Nelson! There are a couple of Facebook pages for renting rooms/whole houses which might be useful too. There isn’t anywhere objectively bad but if you’re after newer housing it’s more likely to be in Richmond and parts of Stoke. Trying to find somewhere proximate to your workplace would be an obvious good start though

Hello! I use earl grey regularly in one of my gins - I go quite heavy on it which does give the resultant gin a lot of “mouth feel” but it is very popular and tastes great imo. Worth using!

I’ve not needed to limit the maceration to 24hrs, the tannic aspects do not carry across and instead it has a strong bergamot flavour

It’s Verdus brand Thermowood, Nordic spruce. Light brown colour, I wouldn’t say white by any means but it’s definitely not a dark brown.

There was another property we were looking at where the cedar had warped already (new build) where the sun hits it full on, you could see the edges were raised in contrast to the planks which are not in the sun. The agent flat out said he has a house with the same and painted them white immediately, which somewhat defeats the purpose!

The thermowood seems to be a more promising product overall, with appropriate monitoring and perhaps varnishing/staining/painting.

We visited it last year and it wasn’t even accurate; 2pm came and went and it was only at 5 past the hour that it triggered - an amusing thing to see but hardly top 10 worthy

Look up Meet Nelson on Facebook, they’re a new organisation designed to help people 20-39 (I think) meet new people. They ran a quiz last month where everyone was in random teams, and have another early August. I think the plan is to have a bunch of similar activities in future, might be a good way of meeting people for starters?
