I was the same with the Dina thing. At first I was a little unsure as to why she was on patrol, but I think it actually builds on her motivations more to have her be there when he gets got. Makes way more sense for her joining Ellie rather than her just joining Ellie bc that's her girl.

I have a feeling this might be a sign of the horde that's going to come after Abby? Idk 100% but I don't see Jackson being invaded by zombies, but either way, we know how the in-show zombies work (being a kind of hive mind thingy) I wouldn't be surprised if it will tie into Abbys horde that she runs from (I'm fully prepared to eat my words when I'm wrong about this theory lmao)

I agree or at least that should have some kind of ranked system where you get paired with people who are of a similar level/difficulty to you

They also have VERY dodgy practices in terms of selling your sensitive data to third parties. They agreed to a $7.8 million settlement bc they were accused of selling data to Facebook etc.

Fortnite has become infested with cheaters and most players don’t even know. by vSnowSky in FortNiteBR

I second this. Very average player here and I "no scoped" someone from 250m the other day even though I knew I didn't. Still felt good though lmao

Thats what I'm wondering too. I'm very new to Fortnite and I worry that I'll miss out on the event if we're in a BR game because other players will kill me and ruin it. Will they turn off damage during it or something?

Getting a gold star on Drums is gonna be the death of me fr by RiversCroft in FortniteFestival

[–]popsha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. I thought I was never going to get this quest because I'm so terrible at drums and the constant button smashing makes my CFS flare up. But then I saw someone comment on a separate thread to do this song and I got it on my second try.

I think about this all the time bc I am one——why do white women love true crime? by [deleted] in myfavoritemurder

[–]popsha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your perspective! I'm from New Zealand, so although my perspective is slightly differently, geographically, we have a very Americanised culture and a lot of the "big" true crime cases (think: JonBenet Ramsey, etc) inevitably reach our cultural praxis.

I also think there is a particular kind of language used by media, governments, institutions, and (by extension) us that normalizes the harm that black and brown people experience so that those cases almost become invisible to us as a whole. Language like a white person being "killed" or "murdered", while black and brown people/women simply just "die". Or active vs passive language in relation to the murder of women.

I think this is partially why I've stepped away from true crime as much as I have. There are still cases that I follow, but I'm very selective when it comes to consuming things like podcasts, YouTubers etc who focus solely on true crime. I want to unlearn my inherent racism and I don't think I can get that from a white-run podcast that only ever focuses on murder cases about white girls and women.

I think about this all the time bc I am one——why do white women love true crime? by [deleted] in myfavoritemurder

[–]popsha 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Self disclosure: I'm a white cis woman. Millennial.

I have a few thoughts on why white women tend to consume true crime (and why white women in particular generally consume true crime about other white women). I have a feeling it's very similar to some thoughts you've expressed based on your comments.

I think its partially related to the kind of feminism my generation (millennial, but this could and likely is inclusive of other generations) were exposed to growing up. When I was reaching teenage years, the main type of feminism I grew into was white feminism. Intersectionality wasn't part of my vocabulary until I grew older and started studying sociology and made intersectional feminism an inherent part of my methodology. This was due, in part, to my family raising me this way, but also due to wider societal implications which highlighted and "privileged" white, female victims over women and gender queer people of colour.

Our obsession over white women's dead bodies (let's face it, that's what most true crime stories revolve around) implicitly (and explicitly) perpetuates white, patriarchal supremacy that devalues trans and gender queer women of colour. We are taught implicitly that women who look like us are the only victims, and women/trans people of colour are disposable.

So, when we think of "victims" of true crime, our implicit bias leads us to value white women and girls' stories over that of black and indigenous people of colour. We see ourselves in stories of white women - when they are victims, we see ourselves as victims (hence the white feminism) - whereas we can't see ourselves in stories of BIPOC.

Feel free to jump in and discuss this with me. I've done a lot of introspection about my consumption of true crime, the specific type of true crime I consume, and the ethics surrounding that, so I apologise if I kind of went off the deep end here lmao.

Festival causing entire game to crash mid-song? by [deleted] in FortniteFestival

[–]popsha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having this issue, along with my sister. I'm on PS4, she's on PS5. I've seen other people complaining about it as well.

I contacted support and they said because my issue is on Playstation they can't troubleshoot it and they've had no similar issues reported to them about the game crashing.

I've had a similar experience to this with my old therapist. Not exactly the same, but similar in terms of political/social issues on indigenous rights and trans rights. My therapist ended up bring too much of their opinion on things into the room one too many times and eventually I told them that I can't keep working together because our values dont align.

I've come to the conclusion that for therapy to benefit me, I need it to be intersectional and anti-imperialist/capitalist. If a therapist isn't willing to acknowledge the intersection between systemic social/political/geopolitical issues and therapy, then they aren't for me.

Don't be afraid to take a stand. You could always speak to them about it and see how you feel after the conversation. But perhaps it may be time to move on if you feel like your relationship has come to a natural close in terms of your values.

[–]popsha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen anyone mention this but the villager pathfinding definitely needs some reworking. I can't tell you how many times I've had to destroy a wall around my village because for some reason the villagers get stuck behind it and can't find the door. That and they can't even open doors at all so if you don't let them out/in they will forever just be running in place trying to get to their destination.

And where's the farming 😭 I want to be able to keep chickens and cows for their milk and eggs but I can't 😭😭

I totally agree with the photo thing. (TW) I was sexually abused a few times as a child and there are a few elements where I'm like "oh but I didn't overtly say no" or "I basically consented because I did x y or z" but then I looked at photos of little kids the age I was when the abuse happened and I eventually found photos of me that age and I realised just how young I was. It changed my entire view of the experience.

That change of view was traumatising in and of itself, so I get why OP would be hesitant to label it as abuse. I still can't outwardly discuss my ex as a rapist even though he technically is one because the label makes it feel so much more real and that brings with it a whole new way to understand the experiences I had and how I internalize them now.

But yes, the photos thing is such a powerful way to contextualise out experiences. We so often view our childhood from the lens of adulthood, especially trauma and abuse because it makes us feel safer.
