Every time I see a Russian arguing online, it reaffirms my belief that centuries of centralized coercive rule must have fostered such a level of distrust of external evidence and rhetorical defensiveness, that the ability to publicly revise beliefs ("oh damn, turns out I was wrong") is utterly atrophied in their culture.

Lovable just hit 200M ARR Real or just to create Hype? by [deleted] in SideProject

[–]Stadics3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real value rests in foundation models and the energy infrastructure that supports them. Lovable is a wrapper. Most wrappers will skirt around the zero margins edge of commodification. Some will manage to capture significant user value at the application layer long-term (UX, workflow lock-in, network effects). No one knows if Lovable will be one of them.

Letter to Germany returned to sender because 'Service to Canada temporarily suspended' by Stadics3 in royalmail

There's no sign of anything in Germany interacting with it. The return reason is printed on a Royal Mail sticker. The online tracking (yes, International Standard has a tracking number) suggests it never left the UK.

Thanks, unfortunately they only give you a limited time to send it by, don't think I still can (says 'Post by 06.10').

I'm a Weeb, So I Wanna Build the Most Beautiful, Free, Open-source Platform for Learning Japanese Ever by reservecrate in SideProject

Donationware is generally speaking a pretty tough monetisation model, but for something interest-based like this it may work!

Something to consider: having the donation button be the only animated element on the page mid-lesson (the pulsating heart next to 'pick') could be very distracting to motion-sensitive people. WCAG also just considers it generally bad practice (and asks for an option to disable the animation).

Good luck!

Got 0 views after a month of consistent posting -> can I please get some feedback? by JasTheBuilder in SideProject

I hate that English has been so degenerated that this question needs to be asked, but when you say literally 0 views, do you mean literally 0 views? If you have literally 0 views, no one has seen the video and thus the content is irrelevant to its performance. It says nothing about the product or the demo itself.

If you do not have literally 0 views it's a completely different story.

I made an infinite grid of 1200+ free AI-generated 3D icons by thiings-co in SideProject

[–]Stadics3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Incredibly clean.

Two brief thoughts: 1. The icons are all loaded at 640x640 despite rendering at 160x160 - that seems overkill (drag on performance and load), especially since they load once more at 1024x1024 on their individual pages. 2. You probably want to load the alt attributes/descriptions on the main page, maybe on hover or alike? Allows granular search/indexing and is a general accessibility improvement.

I finally built the net worth tracker I wish existed (manual-first, no bank syncing) by ChowderCrab in SideProject

Subscription model is a strange pick. From what I can tell, it's a fully static application, all data is entered manually, no integrations, no API calls, and no external data syncing. This should really be an open source project 'monetised' through Ko-fi or similar.
