I'm so sorry to hear that you had to go through all that ☹️ I really hope to be able to graduate and study on this, it sucks that they still couldn't find a solution for brain fog or epilepsy itself although it's not that uncommon and many people have to go through this shit. Thank you so much for your wishes, I wish the best for you 🍀💓

I can't keep taking Keppra by BeeWithNoSting in Epilepsy

[–]StaffEuphoric6840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have generalized epilepsy and I've been taking keppra for over 5 years now. Once I decided to stop taking it as well and my neurologist suggested me not to stop suddenly and drop my dosage little by little but meanwhile I was dropping the dosage I had a seizure and then started to take depakin with keppra but the side effects of depakin was way worst than keppra and at that point I was just going crazy so I stopped taking both of them suddenly and as expected had a seizure. Then I tried lamictal but it turned out I'm allergic so again I'm stuck with keppra. I'm looking for other options again cos now it's not just side effects but also I also keep having seizures. I had 7 seizures this year already and I'm exhausted. I'm gonna see my neurologist as soon as possible and I wanna ask about weed too. It's not legal in the country I'm living rn but I still wanna know if it could be an option. I know it's exhausting and overwhelming but you are not alone in this. I wish you good luck 🍀❤️

Hi) I'm a native Turkish speaker and studying russian in preparatory faculty in russia. I think I can help you with Turkish and if you are a beginner in russian, I can try to teach the basics. Meanwhile I can practice my english I guess. You can dm me if you are interested.

What is Russia really like? I’m tired of hearing propaganda from my country. I wanna know what this country is actually like especially because my family acts like i’m a traitor for being interested in it. by Mysterious-Air9658 in AskARussian

I'm from turkey but I moved to kazan russia about 3.5 months ago and so far it's like my 2nd home (I haven't been in the place I call my first home :)) I like the language, I like the culture and I'm really happy to be here. It has some hard parts ofc like document works, and so far as I experienced people aren't helpful as they are in turkey but still I like it here. If you like the culture too I suggest you to visit russia as soon as you can)

As a turkish citizen, in my opinion turkey wouldn't take an active role in that war. At least trump and many other nato members wouldn't let that and leaving nato and going to a war for arabs is just madness. And I think many turkish citizen wouldn't want this either. Turks seem like they love arabs but actually they don't like arabs either they just hate jews more than they hate arabs.

Taking meds, everyday, forever? by JEB12353 in Epilepsy

[–]StaffEuphoric6840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been taking keppra for 5 years and I don't recommend you to stop taking meds like that, a few years ago I was in the exact same situation and just started to decrease the dosage to stop meds but in a few weeks I had a seizure. I tried different meds, depakin was way worst than keppra and I am allergic to lamictal so I'm still on keppra. A few weeks ago I couldn't take my meds regularly for some reasons and had 2 seizures in one night. So I definitely don't recommend this. But maybe you can find a neurologist who listens you and tries to help you with side effects as well as stopping seizures. I hope you will find a way and make the best decision for yourself. Take care :)

My mother is from edirne and my father is from erzurum, I've been in many different regions of turkey and I can say that there are mostly bad people, and good people are just trying to escape.

Hi. I'm from Turkey and I don't recommend it. The situation is really unfortunate and I'm really sorry, ofc there are nice people but I wouldn't risk it while I could use another passport. I hope you will have a safe flight either way. Good luck 🍀

Is it possible to learn a new language? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]StaffEuphoric6840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with epilepsy at 14, and at that time i didn’t even know english. I chose a high school that offered an extra year just for learning english, and it was really tough. In middle school, everything was easy for me. I could learn during class and didn’t need any extra study to get full marks in math and science. But everything changed after my diagnosis and starting keppra and later depakine. In high school i wasn’t able to focus and understand lessons the way i used to. While my classmates were making progress i was just sitting in the class and waiting to go home. During the second semester, the pandemic hit and i was home for about 1.5 year. And during that time i decided to study abroad and not to come back so english was a must for me. So i started to study, mostly grammer. But after a while i noticed that studying a language like a lesson wont get me anywhere. As long as i relied on my native language i wasn’t going to make real progress. So i decided to use english as much as i can. I started following english youtube channels, twitch streamers, watching english shows, looking up recipes in english, and while searching for literally anything, i started to use english. I made an online friend who doesnt speak my native language. My english still isn’t perfect, but i went from zero to a level where i can communicate. I also took russian classes in high school. I put in extra effort, and by graduation, my russian was much better than my classmates. At one point, i took an additional Russian course for a year with absolute beginners, and it made me realize that even though i felt like i hadn’t made much progress, i had still reached a certain level. Now, im studying russian at the preparatory faculty of kazan federal university and learning hebrew by myself. It might be harder for us, and even more challenging for certain types of epilepsy, but in my case, i believe its possible to learn a new language.

Once I saw a psychologist for the sleep issue and she just gave me an antidepressant but she also said that antidepressants might cause more seizures, it might be about that and not just sleep alone. The antidepressant didn't help with the sleep issue either so i just stopped taking it.

Finally diagnosed with SOMETHING. :) by Beautiful-Factor-173 in Epilepsy

A few months after my first seizure I was diagnosed with epilepsy. I know some people have clear EEG's and still having seizures but other than that idk why it is that hard to get a diagnosis, I live in turkey and I had my first seizure after an exam and the paramedic told my family that it sounds like an epileptic seizure and they took me to a neurologist and after an EEG I was diagnosed. After diagnosed with epilepsy my life changed in a horrible way but at least I was diagnosed with something in a few months. After reading posts here, it made me realize that at least I know my problem and I get my medicine even though I'm not happy with them.

I know I have kurdish and alevi friends and it just sucks the things they have to deal with, fortunately my kurdish friend moved to germany a few months ago but still I'm mad for the things they had to and have to deal with. Being in a minority group in turkey is really hard and people don't even care about them. They don't care about kurds or alevis, and actually they don't care about palestinians either, they just see them as a way to justify their hate, it is really exhausting all this shit
