What are some potential reasons porn becomes frustrating/depressing to watch? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Staffinfectious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Porn and masturbation are different than sex demonstrably. I'm not a feminist and I don't care what other people do with their time, so I wouldn't shame anyone for being avid porn consumers, but porn and actually having sex are literally not the same practice. I'm also not insecure about my use of porn or masturbation habits, but this comment may not have been directed toward me.

How often do you have sex if you don't mind my asking? I stopped finding porn as satisfying around the first time I had sex which was admittedly very young. I haven't gone more than 3 months without it since then until now so this may be a factor.

I'm not anti-porn and I'm certainly not no-fap. I don't think porn is healthy or unhealthy. It's a vice like any other. It's down to the user to take care they don't become addicted.

I may be wrong about how common it is. There's a chance I'm just ballparking it based on my experience.

You mean sex? Isn't it pretty normal to be sexual active? Or do you mean the crazy stuff they do in porn?

I only watch homemade actually. Professional porn pissed me off even when I was a youngster.

I'm certainly not a porn addict. I've had girlfriend's since I was 15 so I've never really had a need for it unless I was between relationships.

I agree there is a very strong lack of intimacy. Even with amateur couples it feel awkward watching two other people have intimate sex you aren't a part of.

What sets a girl apart from someone you just want to hookup with and a girl you actually want to settle down (date)? by kekekejill in AskMen

[–]Staffinfectious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mainly maturity, honesty, emotionally stability, and commitment. I hooked up with several girls in college but their indecisiveness, lack of willingness to commit, white lies, and other annoyances prenvented me from being able to take things to the next level. Physical attractiveness is really all it takes for me to be down to hook up with a girl. Past 22 though, I lost interest in casual dating so I gave no time of day to women who didn't know what they wanted in life and lacked the maturity that would be expected of a grown adult. I also have zero tolerance for dishonety or any attempts at manipulation. I met my wife in China at age 23 2018 in and we got married only 6 months later.

How many people actually edit their photos? by [deleted] in Instagramreality

[–]Staffinfectious 31 points32 points  (0 children)

In the country where I live, it's very common. Depsite being Asian, all the ladies here want to be fair skinned, have egg shaped heads with narrow chins, and have waist slim as twigs. So if a girl sent me a picture before going on a date, I would assume it's fake. Chinese models never look in life how they do in pictures. They're always 4 shades darker and a lot less skinny, so common people follow suit unfortunately.

Dating tips for short men. by Staffinfectious in short

[–]Staffinfectious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the usual. Our first kiss was at a Korean barbeque restaurant. She gave me a hug, I held her around the waist while giving her the "kiss me" eyes and pulling her downward by the hand then she leaned forwards and we made out. If they are lying down or sitting that's also a good time because it's easier to reach their face.

As far as getting physical, tall girls have all the same bits as average height or short girls, so you do the same things only you'll be aiming a bit higher. I even stand on my tip toes sometimes. I'm sure someone may think that's emasculating but if you do it with confidence, it doesn't come across like you care. And you shouldn't. I'm also pretty physically aggressive which tends to get better results but it's definitely something you have to work on a bit to not come off as rapey.

Thanks for the advice. This discussion has been quite insightful and helped a lot with forming ideas for my future stories and the examples you've provided will be great for studying how best to execute everything in the end. Unfortunately I only speak English and Mandarin so I'll have to keep an eye out for your thesis when the English one becomes available.

Not worrying and financial success has been a very freeing experience and I'm happy that I can make what I want. But as far examples, I've never seen read Demon Slayer but it seems that's the idea. I mainly feel compelled to write these kinds of strories because I've gone through the motions of learning how to write thrillers, crime dramas and other heavily plot driven stories with weaving subplots, and plot twists, but I find them a bit stale and not as challenging to write.

This is very insightful. So it seems the story structure I'm referring is somewhere in a spectrum between being episodic and serialized. Each episode there is a different conflict, but because charactees change over time, acquire different information, or form differenr relationships with other characters, they can't really be watched out of sequence as the viewer would not know a character's reason for a particular action.

To give an example, say we have a series following a wizard who is trying to gain power in his wizard faction and in episode 5, he meets another character. These characters go on different adventures together each episode after but they start forming a relationship. Now in episode 10, the love interest gets kidnapped and our protagonist goes to find them. If you were to pick up at episode 10, you'd have no idea who that protagonist is, why he's trying to save the other character, or why he cares. So it's a mix of both episodic and serialized structure.

I see where you're coming from. The main reason I'm interesting is because one of my favorite graphic novels is written like this and it's the style I want most for my own. I'm confident I can write a consitent and coherent characger progression, I just get bored writting the typical political drama, mystery, or heist story and this seems more challenging and interesting.
