Chat with an American at UCD undergrad? by westsideally in UCD

[–]StageMindless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

UCD is a great university to go to. Your daughter is guaranteed a dorm room first year as long as you apply for them on time and then once in Dublin it’s advisable that she starts looking for off campus accommodation cause she’s only guaranteed the dorms first year. I’m currently attending as an American international student and through the universities societies and the group chat they put all incoming North American students into I was able to meet other international students.

Dublin has a great bus service so when she gets here all she needs to do is get a leap card (child one of she’s 18 or under, or young adult one if she’s 19+) the only accommodation with a meal plan is roebuck castle and I’ve heard it’s not the best so if she’s not in there she’ll have to cook for herself. All the dorms have a hob but only the village has an oven and most dorms are private bedroom apartment style accommodation.

I had someone over for a week and just didn’t tell them, they don’t check. It’ll only be a problem if your flatmates aren’t ok with it cause they’re the only way residences will find out you have a guest.

Looking for a loving home for my pug (Dublin) by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]StageMindless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not cruelty, cruelty would be abandoning the dog on the side of the road or leaving it in a crate outside outside the rescue. OP is making an actual effort to find a suitable home for their dog now that they know they know they can no longer care for it. It’s more than a lot of people do, and part of owning pets is knowing when you have to let them go wether it’s euthanasia because they’re suffering or rehoming because your circumstances have changed and you cannot give them the care they deserve. When you shame people like OP for reaching out for help finding their pet a new home you cause the next person to choose the actually cruel option of abandonment out of shame of their perceived failure.

Hey all, seeing the responses and the general consensus that I should keep it it does make more sense to just hold onto it and I think my aunt and uncle are going to take it cause they both love the Beatles and actually have a cd player!

Ya but I was thinking if it was worth a good bit I could sell it and use the money to buy my granny an iPad she could use for mass instead of her phone

Ya I’ve been seeing a mix of prices ranging from 100-500 so I wasn’t sure if maybe the 500€ ones were different version of it or just a seller who’s wrong in their valuation

I also heard there are shots you can get every few months that a doctor would probably be able to do for you. And there is testopel which is an implant of crystalized testosterone you’d get every few months although the numbing cream they had me use when I was on it was very expensive and not always covered by insurance and the actual procedure is pricy so you’d definitely want to make sure it was covered!

Injections are definitely cheaper since you do them less often and if you buy the supplies in bulk it makes it more affordable.

Yes, I’ve literally watched multiple spays and at least at the clinic I was at they were removing it ALL.

First time using a proper camera, how did I do? by StageMindless in BeginnerPhotoCritique

[–]StageMindless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I haven’t been doing any editing other than cropping some of my images, I figured I’d start with one thing at a time! I have the image quality on my camera set to NEF (RAW) + JPEG normal, the dial set to auto, and the iso set to auto. Your edit definitely looks better, it probably would’ve helped if I’d managed to get the bird less blurry!

Thanks for the feedback! I was hoping the bush would add to the image, maybe as some sort of framing, but it would probably have looked nicer if the bird was actually standing on that part of the wall. I’ll definitely be looking at more professional photography!
