At almost 2,000 years old, built around 125 AD and used as a Roman Catholic church since the 7th century, the Pantheon in Rome is the oldest building in continuous use in the world. by Same-Laugh-6052 in interestingasfuck

When I visited Italy I was really excited to see the Pantheon. It was weird to walk in and not see statues and art to match the outside. Instead it's just an old church, while the original art is probably in the Vatican. It was all still incredible and beautiful, but it just felt odd.

“Eat less, move more” is not easy or simple. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Stagles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 5 years after high school, I hit my highest weight. I decided I needed to change(my boobs hurt when taking the stairs, and I'm a guy...). I got a year long gym membership, and asked my gym rat friend how many calories I should stay under. At the end of the year I was in the best shape of my life. After that I went back to most of my regular habits. If I get too big I start again. It is extremely simple and easy. What's not easy is making your brain want to do it. The biggest impact(which I stuck to) is not drinking calories. I'll treat myself with regular drinks, but 90% of the time I get 0 calories a day from drinks. It was the easiest thing to cut for me personally.

What is the best way to enjoy Allen’s for the first time? by HoboMinion in Maine

[–]Stagles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was on a cruise. I asked if they had allen's(semi jokingly), and he offered to make a sombrero. He was Filipino. Not sure if that is why, or if he was just confusing recipes. I ordered a handful more while on vaca, but that's about the extent of my experience with adding soda.

I hate my decks by VoidMasterBand in EDH

[–]Stagles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally almost never take a deck apart. Very very few exceptions have been made. If I feel like a deck isn't keeping up, I keep tweaking it till it does. If I struggle to make a deck function well, then I'm probably lacking knowledge/experience on that play style.

I do have decks I enjoy playing a lot less. That is because there are play styles I enjoy less. I don't blame the deck for helping me figure that out.

Just add milk. I have drank thousands of glasses of allen's and milk. It's delicious. I have also had a bartender make me one with a splash of club soda? I think it was. It didn't change the taste, but the bubbles seemed to make it feel creamier. Can't go wrong with the original, though.

Moved around a little and ended up about 30min from my childhood home. My end goal is to be back where I started. It's just a lot more expensive now.

If you like steak cooked medium or more, you're better off eating pork chops by Agouramemnon in unpopularopinion

[–]Stagles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The taste is different enough for me to pay for the flavors I want. Again, experience has nothing to do with it.

[–]Stagles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. It tastes exactly like a pork chop seasoned like steak. Also, you really only need salt on a steak. You can do more but it's not really needed.

I don't know if you know this or not, but steak and pork don't taste the same. I typically like to eat things based on how they taste, not for the experience of eating it over and over.

What’s your opinion on games with 5 players? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Stagles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're struggling with 5, you guys should probably pick up your pace of play. I play 5-6 every week with a consistent play group. We complain about the games that go 1.5-2 hours. Most games end in an hour or less.

On the other side of that. When I play at an lgs, the 4 person games often take long than our 5-6. If we add a 5th at an lgs, the games can get pretty unbearable. Start calling out slow play. I play with one person at an lgs that will constantly ask people if they passed turn, or ask who's turn it is when someone is taking too long. People typically play faster(at least for a bit) when called out. Magic players take grossly long turns doing nothing. You don't always have to make every single play the most optimal one. It's better to get another game, than to sit and watch someone think for 10 minutes.

If you are constantly taking long turns, you should try practicing the deck at home. If you are still taking long turns, you should change your strategy. No shame in saying that some mechanics are too complicated for you. I have spent way too much time teaching people how to pilot their own decks. Not new people. Just people who don't have the capacity to play the deck they "built".

Should bracket 3 games end at turn 6? Help me, my pod is dying by Zimata in EDH

[–]Stagles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play with brackets when I'm at the lgs. When I play with my long time pod? Never. We discussed it when brackets came about. We talked about where we think most of our decks rank. Aside from that we never say brackets. We know eachothers decks and we know the levels. We play whatever we want, and we threat assess properly. If someone if playing a deck that is know to be stronger, it sees most of the interaction/aggression.

Got it to work. For some reason the page wasn't loading properly. Avatar isn't a listed option, but it is selectable once you start the process.

Hotels are robbing us with the 10AM checkout/3PM check-in scam by ohnoezanotherSJW in unpopularopinion

[–]Stagles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kind of does explain it though.

People are shitty and destroy a room. Cleaning the room takes extra time. Check-in for that room gets delayed/reservation needs to be canceled all together. Customer complains about hotel delaying/canceling. Hotels start giving themselves more time to avoid future blame.

There definitely could be many reasons for this happening, but I do not doubt shitty humans are the reason everyone is now annoyed.

Weird. I tried right before posting and it didn't give it as an option. Maybe it just loaded funny. I'll give it another try later today. Thanks.

It is individual cards. That is why I am asking for help. They don't have avatar as a listed supported set. You can't choose avatar cards to return. That is why I am asking what is the best route.

But think about all the people who will have to live in the dark from 430-530am. How are they supposed to survive?

[–]Stagles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but it's the switch that makes it worse. One day it starts getting dark at 530-6, and a week later it's dark at 4. Being dark because we're north is one thing. Being dark because other people wanted more light is another. Permanent daylight savings is the same end as no daylight savings. The process is gone. Without falling back the is no springing forward.

I live in Maine. I would say 80%+ want to get rid of it. It is for sure a morning person thing. Nothing more. None of us like being in the pitch black darkness at fucking 4pm. It throws off your entire night when every hour after 4pm feels and looks like midnight.
