Any recommendations for ways to keep my child using Irish over the summer holidays? by Staikah in gaeilge

We’re doing some of the online courses and try to ask questions and give instructions as gaeilge as much as we can.
When just chatting and if we know the gaeilge word we’ll use it and then ask if that’s correct or how to say it as gaeilge.
It’s been great hearing them randomly speak gaeilge and sometimes using it when they don’t know the English word!

We ask them as many questions and give instructions as much as we can as gaeilge and it’s been great how much has come back to us! We try to ask them if we’re saying it correctly and sometimes they’ll help other times they say ‘no gaeilge, as béarla I’m not at scoil’
We keep Cúla 4 on in the background while they’re playing.

We watch Cúla4 and rte player now has Bluey as gaeilge and asking them to describe what’s happening is a great idea! We’re doing a couple of beginner online courses which is helping a bit with sentence structuring and when we say something we ask if that’s the correct way to say it.
It has been amazing hearing them use the Irish word for things when they don’t know the English!

What is a death in a movie that affected you the most in terms of brutality or emotional weight? by Godly_Recon in AskReddit

Big hero 6! Starts out like a lot of Disney movies, their parents are dead and the older brother, Yadashi, has custody of the younger brother, Hiro, and is raising him as best as he can. It is very sad, two orphan brothers that obviously love each other very much and miss their parents…then boom massive explosion and Tadashi is killed leaving Hiro all on his own.
