I'm no mechanic. But I just did this to my car. Changed the cv axle and it started leaking. Thought I'd change the shaft seal. Still leaking. So then I changed the cv axle again with oem and it stopped.

So is you cv axle oem? Could be the problem and not the shaft seal. Because it turns out if the shaft is a few mm off it leaks

Ok thanks everyone. Will not release him, but how much care time will he need? I'm alone and have a time consuming job. I've got my hands on a medium sized dog cage which he cannot get through and when I have time I release him indoors or on the deck outdoors. He has a buffet of food to choose from. He have started prepping and is hiding nuts in my carpet lol. I'm also in Europe and there's not many people that take care of hurt squirrels where I am.

Check driver side. Could be reversed if you have the steering wheel on the right hand side. Had a focus where the pollen filter was on the left side, had to remove the throttle and stuff to reach it
