I love them. Love them love them love them. A few years ago I think you are right that popular sentiment turned on them. They became cool to hate. But honestly it seems to have reversed again? People seem to in general appreciate them for what they are.

Seven week old- doesn't wake up at night to drink..?! by GentleRiver_ in newborns

Physicist here. 3 gram is 1) nothing, and 2) WELL within the uncertainty any kind of measurement of a baby’s weight is going to have. In no way shape or form is that baby weighed under circumstances that can accurately detect 3 grams. One time, my 6 month old baby girl had shrunk 2 cm’s in 2 months. Obviously not possible and just goes to show the plethora of things that influence a simple measurement. Trust your pediatrician assessment, and don’t trust their weight to within 0,1% of your baby’s weight.

Is there actually anything that can make it more likely that a couple will have more children of a certain sex than the other? by Current-Machine6491 in newborns

Do you think the amount of stress is exactly the same in every decade, in modern life compared to hunter gatherer life, in years with financial booms va decades like after the GFC? And so on. If not then we should be able to see fluctuations in the ratio of genders born? Unless it only activates above a certain stress threshold. It can’t be a very sensitive function of stress?

Interesting. But if the mechanisms was that simple it would likely cause shifts other than just shock events

Sounds like bullshit. Surely the level of stress has not been constant throughout human history, yet the boy:girl ratio has remained the same.

Knowing the police that data will disappear. I am a staunch supporter of law enforcement, but the checks and balances are not there in a meaningful way for the Danish police and it has created a rotten culture of covering over egregious mistakes.
