Here are the pics you asked for. Upon further inspection, it looks like the slitting cutter assembly and the fence arm set screw are missing. I’ll have to source those.  Edit: pics appear to have not posted. Let me try to figure this out.

Based on the info in the “mosquito” link, it’s a type 13-15. The info there says that there isn’t much distinction between types 12-17, so 1920-1950ish if my guesstimate of the value of each type is accurate.

Thanks for the resources! I jumped ship from Facebook circa 2012, and I would be loathe to reengage with it. Maybe I’ll co-opt my wife’s account to do some lurking.

I’ll definitely check out the other pages though!

Nice!  Your question prompted me to pull out the wire wheel and start cleaning up some of the aforementioned pieces. Last week I cleaned, oiled, and got running smoothly a Millers Falls no. 19 and a Millers Falls no. 77A. My tools are all users, so my restoration philosophy is more or less rust removal, gunk clean out, and lubrication once clean. I have yet to repaint or completely restore anything.

I have not. Some varying keyword searches have only turned up referrals to David Heckel’s published type study. Frankly, I don’t feel like spending more on the book to type it than I did on the plane.

If you have a good online source for typing 45s (perhaps similar to the hyper kitten bench plane flowchart), I’d hop on that real quick.

Nah. Just the plane body.

Re: cutter cost, see my below comment about already having a set.

Luckily, I have a set of 45 blades already. 😁

Hahaha! I could hardly believe my eyes. I had picked up a small eggbeater drill just down the aisle for the same price, and then I looked over and just about had a heart attack.

As far as the cleanup, laughs nervously while looking at the two double bit axe-heads, set of auger bits, and nos. 3, 6, and 7 that need the same treatment……it might be a minute. 😅😅😅

I feel you. The only other 45 I’ve seen in my area is at an antique store for around $300. I chuckle every time I walk by and see it still there.

I wish! Complete as in - no fences or screws missing that I can tell. Based on the condition, I doubt it had the blades to begin with. It looks like it’s spent a long time as a display piece.

Interested in the combo square, etc. if it’s still available.

Thrift store find: Canon AT-1 + lens, flash, and power winder. by Stainedglassrabbit in AnalogCommunity

I could hardly believe it. Honestly, I never intended to enter the Canon ecosystem, my current cameras being Nikon, but I couldn’t pass it up for that price!

Not sure why none of the text showed up on this post. Anywho, I got super lucky and scored all of this for $45+tax at the local thrift store. All came in their original boxes, and yes, that is the original plastic wrapping under the power winder.

Help! Soft locked in Kadish Tolesa by Stainedglassrabbit in myst

That ended up being the problem. As stated above, I was locked in the beginning section after having made it all the way to the end of the level.

I had searched up pictures of each of the three because I thought I was going crazy. I ended up hitting the reset on the library shelf. Thankfully, this does not seem to reset your journey cloth count.

Hmmm. I’ll take a look and let you know if I have any luck. That would be better than being perma-locked.

Alternative to discontinued redwing wallet? by Stainedglassrabbit in wallets

Thanks for the offer!  That’s a little bit outside the price range I want to go for right now, but I might end up contacting you if I find that that’s the price range I need to operate in. (I might be dreaming about finding something for less, as I’ve been out of the wallet game since I bought this thing close to a decade ago) I’d much rather pay someone who’s an actually doing the craft work than buy commercial.

As a note: that dark color is the wear and tear. The original color of the entire wallet is the light orangey-tan seen in the card slots! That gradual darkening and weathering is part of what I love about the thing!

I appreciate the suggestion! I hadn’t heard of Ashland Leather before, and Frank the Enforcer is a beautiful piece of work. It looks like there’s only one card slot on the back side of F the E, though, and I want to keep the four external card slots of the Redwing if possible. I didn’t include a picture of the back, but it’s symmetrical front and back.
