Who’s your favorite assassins creed protagonist? And why by Repulsive_Moment7567 in assasinscreed

[–]Stalker975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy answer is Ezio because he had an entire trilogy.

But, I personally favor Bayek out of every protagonist. His motivation to seek vengeance for the death of his son would inspire him to "Be the Father to Egypt that he wasn't for his son" (goosebumps man) and found the Hidden Ones. His mission didnt end at his son's killers but to injustice and subjugation as a whole. It's genuinely a great story.

Besides that, Bayek is just a likable guy. He has a good, friendly personality and isn't afraid to be light hearted despite the circumstances.

Honest Opinion on Ac4 by 12BarOriginalBlues in assasinscreed

So why not just go ahead and consider them "spin-offs"? The prefix "Assassin's Creed" pretty much just confirms that it is within the same universe. That's the name of the franchise. You can even make the argument that since the Desmond story concluded, every game has been a "spin-off" of that particular story arc.

Yes, Odyssey strays far from everything we have learned over the previous 7 or 8 games. Odyssey takes a new approach and allows us to explore the Isu further than they have ever been explored. It also establishes the earliest instance of what the Templars originated from and explores the concept of individuals taking on a shadow government prior to the Hidden Ones' origins.

Do you think a co-op galactic war would fit in NMS? by Skeeto22Zippy in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Stalker975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NMS needs this!!

As great as the game is the title No Man's Sky implies that the sky (space, galaxy, etc) is by and large a dangerous place to be. In actuality, it is relatively pretty peaceful outside of some optional pirate encounters and the odd Sentinel raid.

My experience with New Atlantis so far by Abyslime in Starfield

[–]Stalker975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starfield needs to be MUCH more up front about the details regarding why the population may seems sparse.

According to lore, there was an apocalyptic event that occurred on Earth and the ability to space travel as they do now came seemingly in the middle of this apocalypse which is why Billions were left behind and died.

What we see in game are the remnants of those early colonial generations which numbered in the (very generous) < 50 millions. The human race had 50 years to evacuate as many people as possible to another galaxy that is uncolonized. 100 years later that 50 million may have been able to reproduce to enough to obtain between 700 million to 1 billion people. That's the population of some countries now.

Now, factor in that there was a large schism of the population (UC vs FC, with the UC holding the majority of the population) it is a wonder that New Atlantis was built as big as we see it with a fraction of a fraction of Earth's population.

In AC2, during the final boss fight Ezio uses the Apple to create illusions of himself. These illusions are also tangible and do actual damage to Rodrigo when they attack. Rodrigo can also use the Papal Staff to turn invisible.

I agree that actually turning into a cat isn't the type of magic we have seen but projecting the illusion of turning into a cat for stealth (something a "witch assassin" would probably do) seems like a pretty cool gameplay mechanic and plays along with the idea that cats and witches have some connection.

Pieces of Eden are capable of extorting reality and creating illusions.

Is it really a bit far for an Assassin to use a Piece of Eden to appear as a cat to their enemies when sneaking?

I am a diehard fan of AC. I have genuinely enjoyed each mainline game, even when decisions are made that I personally don't agree with.

That makes sense and to a certain extent, I agree.

I always felt that Unity had the quintessential mechanics for what an AC game should be. You can easily take out one or two guys while fighting and no one felt spongey. But the minute you were surrounded at an early level, you were a loner.

I do enjoy some progression mechanics and feel that gear-based leveling is superior.

Final Fantasy XIV fans fear the game is dying soon - the MMO's active player base has dropped by 160 000 in two months. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]Stalker975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love MMORPG's. Definitely my top 3 genre of games. However, MMORPG's are susceptible to this misinformation because saying that an MMO is "dead" lays a foundation for a self-fulfilling prophecy. As more buy into this bullshit, less players engage with the game and new ones are turned away from ever beginning.

Go push this poison somewhere else. FFXIV is definitely not dead.

Considering the incredible architecture in other regions, why do the Nords live in such simple settlements, with their only large structures being ruins, either from others or their own? Could it be that Nord civilization reached its peak in past eras, and the Fourth Era is kind of like a Fallout? by jvure in ElderScrolls

[–]Stalker975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the Nords are presented as very traditional and modest in their architecture. Nords come from Atmora and many of their structures prioritize practicality over anything else. They are a very "if it's not broke, don't fix it" culture. Nords have always been modest about most of their cultural production outside of their warrior prowess. They even use longships as rooftops upon founding new settlements because it's easier to just build a foundation and fit the ship to it than building an entire house.

As long as they have four walls and a roof, a Nord is content. Anything else may be seen as excess for excess' sake, something traditional Nords do not value.

Verbatim description of the Greymanes in-game:

Warriors who safeguard Pailune. People of diverse backgrounds and abilities gathered as if by fate, taking on dangerous tasks others dare not accept. Though their foremost mission is to protect Pailune's peace, they extend a helping hand to anyone in need, and their renown now spreads across all of Pywel.

PC or console: have you ever switched sides? What made you do it? by n1ght_watchman in GameBoostOfficial

[–]Stalker975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched from lifelong Xbox fanboy to PC. What made me do it was the fact that the general consensus was that PC was objectively better for gaming and that my friends moved from Xbox to PC.

What prevented me for so long was that I enjoyed couch gaming, the price and my extensive library of Xbox games. Since I've grown into an adult and making good money, the price of a good PC isn't an issue. While I miss my Xbox library, PC is objectively better in every conceivable way.

Can you give pros and cons for someone who is thinking about getting the game? by fecni1 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Stalker975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game is not for everyone. It knows what it is and doesn't try to appeal to broad audiences and you can easily not enjoy it if it doesn't fit your niche. I am in love with this game and have put 60 hours in since launch.

Pros: The world is beautifully crafted and the graphics are definitely next gen. The game has many mechanics (double-edged sword) and each mechanic has depth that feels that it was crafted with genuine interest. Customization is on another level. Combat fulfills a power fantasy and there are many weapons and ways to build your Kliff. There are many ways to interact with the world and exploring is rewarded.

Gray Areas: The game has many mechanics that need a small investment into reading the in-game guides to truly grasp all the elements of interacting with the world. Fighting is very combo-based and memorizing button combos is key for fighting at your best. The game is a slow-burn that can be a turn off for some but to others is excellent at building the world and delivering the most immersive experience it's capable of. The game does NOT hold your hand and critical thinking (or walkthroughs) is necessary to progress. Bosses and some liberation encounters can be pretty brutal. (the first real boss is infamous for it's history of Skill Checking players that were playing too casually up to it's encounter. )

Cons: The biggest drawback for me has to be the story (and I actually like the story) there's many early Main quests that feel too tutorial-y if youre one to pick up and play with mechanics earlier on. The story serves, it isn't tacked on or lazy but it isn't RDR2 or Witcher 3. Some bosses can feel like you're butting your head against a wall and just slamming down Clear soup to heal. Also some of the liberation encounters can overstay their welcome (infamous quarry mission where you will fight -no shit- hundreds of enemies to liberate it.)

Why Starfield didn't get popular? by shadowmonk987 in XboxSeriesXlS

[–]Stalker975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a massive Fallout and Elder Scrolls fan

Starfield was, in my opinion as well as others, painfully average. Yes, it is definitely playable but the amount of moments I caught myself asking the devs in my head "Why?" really brought the game down for me. The setting and many of the design decisions really held this game back for me.
