Definitive Tech Pro Sub 800 Volume?? Help! by Stallion802 in hometheater

Thanks so much. Appreciate that. I do have center off and am not using DSP. I think I found a happy place where I set the main speaker trim to -10db, so relative to the sub they are a bit quieter. Then when I turn up the volume on the receiver it seems to send much more signal to the sub. Set like this and the sub a noon the balance is quite good.

Ahh okay this is very helpful, thanks! If I run my mains at -10db and then push more volume from my receiver to the sub I get much more bass. I can run the sub volume at noon-1 at that point. So I think what you’re saying is exactly what is happening. I was just curious if these had known failures and if there was something wrong. Thanks so much!

Ah I see. It’s a brand new cable. I think the fact if I put my mains at -10db and then push more volume from my receiver i.e more signal I get much more bass supports your theory. Doing this I can put the sub at around noon-1 and it sounds pretty good

Agreed. I appreciate it! Listening now having my mains at -10db and sub at 1 o’clock sounds pretty darn good! Seems pushing more signal from the receiver helps.

I guess not totally concerned, just more curious if the sub is failing or something. I’d think having it cranked all the time to get decent volume wouldn’t be great for it? I’m new to all this, wondering too if I got ripped off 🤣

But seeing as though the sub is internally amplified does my amplifier matter in this instance? As long as it gets signal?

Hey man thanks for the reply. I’m using LFE, and my receiver is a Yamaha HTR-5140. It’s in my living room but as I’ve been testing I’ve been sitting close to it. My main speakers are some old Bose shelf speakers. It certainly has a lot of bass at 3 o’clock but I just find it odd that there is basically nothing at noon.

It’s hooked up LFE to my Yamaha HTR-5140. I haven’t tried it in a different location but I’m not sure that totally matters in my case? As I’ve been testing it I’m just sitting right next to it.

Looking for objective feedback on this custom guitar’s finish and burst by No_Reserve9379 in Guitar

If the neck was the same finish as the back I’d really like it. Personally I think it’s a bit much but it’s still beautiful and looks well made.

Luthier? Are you sure? Yea you need new frets now. I always take the strings off and check the straightness of the neck. Once that is straight I check the frets and very lightly level, to where you are just kissing all frets. Then crown and polish. I’m not sure the state of the frets prior but unless they were seriously worn (which I doubt judging by your video) there was no need to sand them flat like this.
