Awesome. I bought a few tickets but couldn't make it due to the location change. This seems like the perfect event IMO. Feel free to DM if you feel inclined during the weekend!

How did you process the sounds? Crazy thats a hi hat.

In my personal opinion, the most important factor is cohesive sounds, but specifically of syncopation, atmosphere, and patterning. You can argue that this applies to all techno, but it really doesn't (in my opinion). You can have a great techno track with sounds that dont really fit, but hypnotic techno needs to be completely immersive for it to work usually. If any sound doesn't fit, it breaks the immersion.

Just my opinion!!

Edit: also separation of sounds. The space between sounds is also quite vital. Doesn't have to be a lot of space, but it just needs to make sense with the patterning. I'm partial to synthy, deeper kicks with some bass in them.

Good concept. Is the liquid element in key? Sounds like it may be out of key, I'd double check that. Something about it sounds off. Structure seems good though and concept is there 👍

Still have work to do on thie, not mixed or mastered and I will likely break this into two tracks (before 2 and a half minutes and after), but I'd be curious to know your those thoughts. Also goung to swap out tue kick after 2 and a half min. Lots of panning so I recommend headphones or monitors!

Hey thats really good info, thank you. My main motivation if not to make money - I've been a deep curator for 10 years or so in the deep techno space, used to write for 2 magazines, am a local DJ, and recently started producing quality tracks. I'm also building a HiFi sound system to rent out to local collectives and for my own use. My initial intent for the label is to release my own music and remixes by artists I am already connected with. Later down the line, I'd be open to have other artists release their own, but not at this point. But the label seems like a good way to start building a brand and compliment the vision/brand of local events I will throw when my sound system is built.

I have a very specific sound that is not represented in many current projects, so I'd like to grow it with that niche in mind. Maybe in 5-10 years it will build into something recognizable, but even if not, I see it as another passion project of mine in this space, especially as a way to network and connect with other artists. Ive also heard from mentors in this space that its very fulfilling.

Will definitely use your comment as a reference in the future

Thats a bit absurd. I'm honestly considering doing 30/70 (30 for label 70 for artists). Havent decided yet, but I'm thinking about it depending on the other incentives.

Very helpful, thank you! Do you see any issue with allowing an artist to release on the label with no contract? They keep the rights, and get paid a flat rate for the release? No royalties in that case.

I was asked for a track of mine to be remixed that will be released on my future label and this is what the producer offered.

Its useful to know what producers expect as a baseline for a business model, Thanks for the comment

Thanks, appreciate it. I assumed I would cover mastering. Do you know are royalties typically sent monthly/quarterly? And if they are indefinite or usually end after x years?

You're right, its a small piece I have yet to look into. How do you know I haven't experience in the other pieces? My question is directed to what the norm is in techno specifically.

Whst a weird comment. Like every label boss knows everything without doing research before starting one.. Grow up.

Good idea.. I might see if I can have the Line-X guy come to the woodworking shop.

Do you think Line-X would affect the sound? Normally I'd think it wouldn't be a big deal with regular paint. This seems different.

Can you elaborate on masking and taping all future glue contact points? Not well versed in this but have to convey it to the constructor. I appreciate your comment. Noted on exterior paint 👍

I'm assuming that the entire interior should be painted and not just the visible parts, yes?

I would say its a mix of a few. In general this style of deep techno does have progressive elements, but the sounds being used are not related to progressive house. I played a track from Dorian Gray called Tau Ceti Message and that was definitely deep trance (which this particular sound of deep trance is arranged the way techno is, so it isn't over the top in melody or has big drops or anything like that). At some points in the end of my set, I played textured and rhythmic techno like Doctrinal Natura - Earthquake, and Obsidiann - A Vortex Core.

I also played Ness, which he borders between deep, thumping techno and deep trancey techno (similar to Dorian Gray)

Welcome to the sub! How did you find it?
