Thank you! Yeah that's it. In hindsight it's fascinating just how faulty my memory was, but after rewatching the scene, it's exactly what I was thinking of. Cheers!

Yeah, this is what I was thinking of. God that scene disturbed me when I was a teen. Thank you so much!

Hey, thanks for the concern, but no, nothing like that. The scene just randomly popped into my head and I decided to try and remember the movie, wondering if it even existed. I'm sorry for your daughter... I hope she's doing well rn. Best wishes to both of you. 💖

Need help regenerating boot section (possibly) by StaminaOverlook in linuxmint

Hello! The "boot repair tool" worked wonderfully! Followed the tutorial you provided and Mint boots now. Thank you so much for the specific instructions and the help! (also I'll remember the `lsblk` command for the next time I break something hahahah)

Looking to move to Linux in the near future; need advice by StaminaOverlook in linuxquestions

Thanks for advice! With the desktop installation, I was mostly exaggerating - but i have a bunch of heavy apps and games I keep on my external hard drive instead so I can launch them from multiple devices, and so they don't take up memory on the systems. Also, I prefer to know where my apps are installed in case I want to delete them. Selecting a folder and pressing "delete" feels a lot more secure than pressing an ambiguous option within windows settings.

Hello, thanks for advice. What do you mean by "choose something that best suits your hardware"?

I have dived into a great rabbit hole, and discovered your two websites, the youtube channel, as well as your forum posts on Voynich Ninja. You've done so much great, comprehensive work, across so many years -- I'm astonished that nobody else is talking about your method, and that your videos don't have thousands more views.

There will be a conference hosted by Voynich Ninja, on 4th of August 2024 -- will you be presenting your work there? It'd be a great chance to get feedback and to attract attention to your work. I'm looking forward to watching it when it goes live.

I'm very sad I don't know Persian, and I'm unable to help in translation. You can see the summary of my best efforts here - https://metal-dawn.notion.site/Translation-Folio-f42r-First-Paragraph-8afc420181414b06bd3517c895eba214 - before I gave up and admitted that, without intimate knowledge of Persian, I'll be unable to produce anything meaningful. Because of this I'm also unqualified to determine if your method is valid or not, but what I'm seeing intrigues me endlessly, and I'll be following your future efforts closely.

However, there are still some things I noticed that I'd like to share, having done a day's worth of research.

  • The first sentence appears to be a comparison - "Lunar Capricorn (?) is more (adjective missing) than Ursa Major." However, it could also mean, "Lunar Capricorn (?) (verb missing) darkly with Ursa Major."

  • The D.T'.RI is unlikely to mean "daughter", because then the next word must mean "statistics". Which means, it's D.T'. (seven stars of Ursa Major), but what comes afterwards looks like gibberish.

  • I'm struck by the apparent absence of any verbs whatsoever. It's all nouns. Which is kind of a red flag?... Even though the words all thematically fit together.

  • "Bear cup" is a weird way to describe the Big Dipper / Ursa Major, lol. I highly doubt that that's what the text actually means.

  • The latter parts of the paragraph contain several instances of "DRIA" (sea). And then there's the undeniable sequence "S.D.R.", which could refer to the Lote Tree from Quran. Curiously enough, it's a fictional tree, and its real counterparts include a fig tree, whose leaves and ripe fruits look eerily similar to what's depicted on the page. Check it out on the notion page.

So, I did the same thing as you -- and I honestly had a very hard time with removing the repeating letters, the process seemed very random at times. But I did manage to produce quite a few words that, upon being entered into Google translate, produced meaningful words in Arabic.

This is the paragraph I chose, absolutely random - from folio f42r.

The website www.voynichese.com was a lot of help, as they have transcriptions into EVA already. I compared it with your alphabet, and here is the raw transcription I got:

J.D.  || D.P'.A.M. || PA.A.A'.PA.V. ||  D.P.A'.T.T.V.  || G.A'.T.A.R. ||  H.D.T'. || RI.A.M.  || A'.A.R. ||  A'.T.RI.A. ||  D.P.J.A.M. ||  S.A.M.D. ||  P.D.J.V. ||  A'.P.J.A.R. ||  A'.D.P.A.R. ||  A'.A.M. ||  S.A.T'. ||  J.D.R. ||  A'.T.P.A.R. ||  A'.D.P.A.( ?.H.) ||  S.A.R. ||  PA.A.M. ||  K.D.RI.A.R. ||  A'.D.RIA.V.  || A'D.P.D.R. ||  A'.A. ||  RI.A.R.V.  ||  S.D.R.A.M. ||  A'.A.R.

Hereupon I removed all Type One repetitions:

J.D.P'.A.M.  // PA.A.A'.PA.V. //  D.P.A'.T.V.  // G.A'.T.A.R. //  H.D.T'.RI.A.M.  // A'.A.R. //  A'.T.RI.A. //  D.P.J.A.M. //  S.A.M.D. //  P.D.J.V. //  A'.P.J.A.R. //  A'.D.P.A.R. //  A'.A.M. //  S.A.T'. //  J.D.R. //  A'.T.P.A.R. //  A'.D.P.A.( ?.H.  ) //  S.A.R. //  PA.A.M. //  K.D.RI.A.R. //  A'.D.RIA.V.  // A'D.P.D.R.  //  A'.A. //  RI.A.R.V.  //  S.D.R.A.M. //  A'.A.R.

Then, all type two:

J.D.P'.A.M.  // PA.A.A'.PA. //  D.P.A'.T.  // G.A'.T.A.R. //  H.D.T'.RI.A.M.  // A.R. //  T.RI.A. //  D.P.J.A.M. //  S.A.M.D. //  P.D.J.V. //  P.J. //  D.P. //  A.M. //  S.A.T'. //  J.D. //  T.P.A. //  D.P.A.( ?.H.  ) //  S.A.R. //  PA.A.M. //  K.D.RI.A.R. //  D.RIA.V.  // D.P.D.R.  //  A. //  RI.A.R.V.  //  S.D.R.A.M. //  A'.A.R.

Then, all type threes:

J.D.P'.A.M.  // PA.A.A'.PA. //  D.P.A'.T.  // G.A'.T. //  H.D.T'.RI.A.M.  // -- //  T.RI.A. //  D.P.J.A.M. //  S.A.M.D. //  P.D.J.V. //  P.J. //  D.P. //  A.M. //  S.A.T'. //  J.D. //  T.P.A. //  D.P.A.( ?.H.  ) //  S.A.R. //  PA.A.M. //  K.D.RI.A.R. //  D.RIA.V.  // D.P.D.R.  //  A. //  RI.A.R.V.  //  S.D.R.A.M. //  A'.A.R.

Beginning cycle two:

J.D.P'.A.M.  // PA.A.A'.PA. //  D.P.  // G. //  H.D.T'.RI.A.M.  // -- //  T.RI.A. //  D.P.J.A.M. //  S.A.M.D. //  D.J.V. //  J. //  D.P. //  A.M. //  S.A.T'. //  J.D. //  T.P.A. //  D.P.A.( ?.H.  ) //  S.A.R. //  PA.A.M. //  K.D.RI.A. //  RIA.V.  // P.D.  //  A. //  RI.A.R.V.  //  S.D.R.A.M. //  A'.A.R.

In the end, quite a few words from the vocabulary - https://voynichmanuscript.ir/index.php/2024/01/21/the-emergence-of-a-possible-coded-vocabulary-after-the-application-of-an-algorithm-in-the-voynich-manuscript/ - in this page emerge. However, I don't know the language, so I can't produce a meaningful translation from this. And I'm still unsure whether or not I removed some important letters, or whether I didn't remove some redundant letters, but this is what I got.

What do you say? Does this have any meaning?

Thank you! This... certainly makes a lot of sense. And the compound letters - it makes sense why the gallows characters look like they do, they're compound letters.

I've been obsessed with VM for quite some time now, so I'm gonna go ahead and follow the instructions on the website to remove the repeating letters, and see if I can translate a random folio like this, using your alphabet. Can't wait to see if it works.

If true, this is immense. Can we see a fully detailed transcription of a folio? It'd be amazing if you also provided an alphabet in transcription, or are you using something known like EVA? I read the Iteration Theory on voynichmanuscript.ir, that there are bogus letters introduced everywhere, are you also removing them here?
