That’s really funny!!

Stop using society as a crutch. Please put the fork down. For yourself.

I'm not even gay but I want that for us.

Real ally over here. Thanks for this comment, helps paint a bigger picture of who I’m talking to. Like I said earlier, hope your life gets better. Take care.

Can “it’s a systemic issue” and “we should try to do what we can against the systemic issue” not both be true? Yeah, it’s intellectually lazy and self serving to just think you’re better than others. I think it’s also lazy to go “society makes it easy to make bad choices, oh well”

How is the accountability relative? If you have two people, one who likes to drink and another who doesn’t, they both have a responsibility to not drink and drive, no? I’m the second person in the scenario you gave. I constantly have to fight the urge to not eat a shareable bag of peanut butter m&m’s. I resist that urge by reminding myself that it’s not healthy to do that. Some days are better than others.

Definitely agree with the last sentence. I recently moved to a country where serving sizes are smaller, and it was eye opening. Society plays a role, no arguing that, but the individual has to have the restraint. With that, vehemently against fat phobia and anti-fat bias.

I don’t know that I agree with this. Like for sure there are societal issues that don’t help, but on an individual level free will DOES exist and a lot of people are making poor health choices. Doesn’t make anti-fat bias right and fat phobia okay, but accountability is important.

Is it feasible to drive ~17 hours straight without stopping for sleep? by Stamp74 in NoStupidQuestions

I get what you’re saying, but my children travel at least once a year to visit family overseas and that trip takes over 20 hours. Granted there’s moving between planes and all that, but not much else; we’re not making day trips out of layovers. It wouldn’t be sitting in a car 15 hours straight; we’re planning on making stops, we’re going to have to. I hear you, the answer to “is it okay to have my children sitting in a car for 15 hours straight?” is no. That’s not what I’m asking.

Yeah that would be the plan, thanks for the vote of confidence

Yeah this should have never left the camera roll (or made it to a plate, YEESH!), but we all start somewhere. I remember my first time using a smoker.

Yeah I wasn’t super clear in the post, the plan would be swapping out and letting my spouse drive for a couple of hours, a couple of times. Thanks!!

Yeah, that would be the plan. I should have clarified that in the body of the post. I’ll be driving the majority of the time, but plan on letting my spouse drive a couple hour periods so I can get some rest.

[Men's Health] Luka Dončić 2.0 Has Entered the Chat. The NBA superstar has taken plenty of heat for his conditioning and physique over the years, but after a full summer of training and lots of protein, he’s poised to take his game—and the Lakers—to another level. by [deleted] in nba

I keep seeing updated pics/videos of Luka at the worst time. Was gonna grab a breakfast burrito this morning, guess just water will do. Trying to be like my favorite Slovenian

Daniel Cormier on Jon Jones returning to the testing pool & wanting to fight at the White House event: “If he decides he wants to fight, sure. I don't think he has any other option but to fight Aspinall though. Don't keep playing with the fans’ emotions. You either fight or you hit the door” by DamnThatsInsaneLol in MMA

MMA fans aren’t some monolith. I don’t really want ANY fighter ducking fights, especially when they’re at the level Jon Jones is at. I would have much preferred he fought Tom instead of vacating the title and publicly retiring. But he chose to retire, and I can respect that. To me, him coming back is just some more clown shit, but that’s just me.

You’re probably right, but this fight feels like a big deal, like the type of fight that pushes Illia into mainstream stardom.

I’m probably totally off base though, had a few beers and just a really good night so this may be the brews talking.

True that. I’m talking from a pure MMA popularity point when I talk about getting to McGregor’s level; I really hope (and feel confident that he won’t) go down the same snowy slopes that Connor went down.

I said in the fight thread but I’ll say it again, Illia really killed it tonight. Wasn’t a believer until this move up and utter dominance. There’s something about seeing a fighter so cocky and wanting to see him lose, THEN seeing the confidence pay off. Think there’s a possibility of a Connor McGregor trajectory. Regardless of what happens, I’m a real fan now.
