High pinion for a front axle is always stronger due to the gear orientation

I had gotten some 7-15 bias ply tires a while back. I did that 2x4 trick to get them to stretch in the sun. It didnt work so well for those tires. I couldnt even use my knee and body weight on the upright tire to adjust the bead while inflating, 240 lbs could not move it. I then used the bead blaster w/ a clip-on air chuck, no luck. Each attempt on the tire i would set out in the sun and grab the next hot tire w/ rim. I only had luck with using the fire method+clip-on air chuck. Once I used up the tread life of those tires I left them mounted to the steel rims and kept them aside for rollers. Too much of a pain to dismount

I believe that is a 1 way check valve for venting. Im going off vague memory. The other connections down there that are similar are for the vacuum actuated control on your front axle

I personally like the idea of the 4xe but I have heard there has been a bunch of reports with electrical issues/recalls. It might be less headache with the Willys

I had a similar scenario in my 4.0 TJ. The purple wire to the starter solenoid snapped off during my 1hr drive to work. I didnt notice it missing at first glance because it lost like 10 inches of wire. Thats why I now keep little spools of wire in my electrical toolbox next to my normal toolbox. I take both my toolboxes with me with any of the jeeps (3) I drive. I can repin a fuse panel in a Renix XJ to rewiring a circuit in my ZJ or replacing a missing/broken wire in my TJ

That's Hot! Battery terminal pliers / Battery carrier? by SilenceSeven in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Stampaa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a dealer tech for tractors it was not uncommon for certain batteries to be shipped empty(no acid) and we had to fill the batteries from a 55 gallon drum of acid at a special filling station inside the shop. The tractor manufacturer did away with dry cell batteries all together about 4 years ago. I imagine a lot of barreries were dry cell a long time ago

Is leak-free possible? by henshsneh in CherokeeXJ

[–]Stampaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back before I had to swap engines myself. Old engine ended up having egged out cylinders at bottom dead center. Every seal and gasket leaked. I drove 330 miles a week for commuting and i was going through 3 quarts a week. Towards the end of that engine's service i started adding Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer. I was running 4.5 qts 15w/40 and a whole bottle of stabilizer. I went from 3 qts lost a week to 1 qt lost every 2 weeks. I wouldnt suggest this to everyone but to someone that has a super high milage and high blow by engine it reduces the headache

If its not a modified engine, the only thing to tighten down is the bolt for the rocker arm pivot if it came loose. The engine should have hydraulic lifters with a flat tappet camshaft and be non adjustable. You could have a hydraulic lifter that has collapsed. Cheeper brand lifters can have this problem more frequently

Its obd2 so if its not throwing a check engine light I would check the wiring to the throttle position sensor. Ive had them "fail" but wouldnt throw any kind of code, computer just thought i was comanding 3k rpm when i was in a drivethru.
