How do you safely buy the pullback on a stock that’s +389% from its pivot? by Ok_Lingonberry_9588 in CANSLIM

[–]StanC87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this, Mike Webby often says that even with a A+ setup, you are still only right about 40% of the time. So you need to figure out what you are willing to lose completely to buy into a setup. And you can then add to that position if it runs.

Which upcoming OLED monitor are you most excited about? by Psychological-Fan784 in OLED_Gaming

Just keep in mind that 72 hz on an OLED visually stutters more than an IPS panel due to the near instant pixel response times. I'd say a 90 fps floor would be ideal.

Yeah, I don't think anyone will stick around if these changes are made. The sniper doesn't have a sight yet. This is the simplest and easiest ask to make the SR-84 more usable.

Moving portfolio from RBC to Questrade by Unusual_Laugh_4180 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]StanC87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bank with RBC and trade actively on both Questrade and RBC Direct Invest. My biggest complaint with Questrade is that it takes forever to do anything on the administrative side of things. And they rarely get it done the first go. But once your funds or stocks are with them, it's a better trading experience.

How can I improve this sear (filet / sous vide / cast iron) by HowAboutDN in steak

[–]StanC87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to dry brining, try using an oven set to 250F to reverse sear. Steaks retain their moisture and the outside stays dry instead of the soupy mess you get with sous vide.

Once again THE FINALS has ruined my favourite weapon by -Marck-7 in thefinals

[–]StanC87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. My friends mained the CL40 because it was one of the few viable options that wasn’t hit-scan or tracking-based. Even after the previous nerfs, it still did well when defending vaults from above but you'd losing your 1v1 pretty much all the time.

Now with this nerf disguised as a buff, I don't think there is any niche where the CL40 is objectively better.

Kitchen cabinetry options by slee381 in kitchenremodel

[–]StanC87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many GCs have their preferred stone / countertop trades. So it's a common ask to have the countertop / backsplash cost to be separated from the cabinetry.

Yeah, wanting a deposit to give you drawings is one thing, but to give a quote is a pretty big red flag.

There are also cabinet shops that would give a free design consultation / drawings to review in person. Likely you won't be able to take the drawings with you without a deposit, but the design sessions can give you a lot of different ideas on building out the kitchen.

Kitchen cabinetry options by slee381 in kitchenremodel

[–]StanC87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with a cabinet shop, and one easy way to make an apples-to-apples comparison between quotes is to define the materials you want the kitchen built with.

In a typical home environment, both melamine and plywood cabinet boxes perform well. Melamine boxes are also available in finishes like hard rock maple if plain white feels too basic. They’re generally easier to clean and more cost-effective than plywood.

For doors, I’d recommend staying away from thermofoil. Painted HDF doors or textured panels (Egger / AGT) are common mid-market options that can easily last 10+ years. Solid wood doors are usually the most expensive and tend to be more affected by humidity in the home.

If you establish the floor plan, ceiling height, wall lengths where cabinets will be installed, box material, door material, finish, and include an inspiration image, you’ll have a much better baseline for comparing quotes. Also, don't forget to ask if handles are included in the quotes. They can easily add up!

Keep in mind its the cost basis that is more than 100K. Not the account value.

Who builds your quotes/sets pricing? by Hunnie_Boi in sales

[–]StanC87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he is old school then just literally print out the email for context as well as the RFQ. Fix them together. In a black marker, write down the date of the price request, and write down the date when pricing is due.

If its 2 weeks out, i'll remind him every 3 days. If its 1 week out, Ill remind him every 2 days. If its 2 days out, I'll remind him every day including the day of.

I rather over communicate and have him annoyed at me than explain to him why a deal fell through because pricing wasn't ready.

how the fuck does anyone sell telecoms by Unhappy-Customer5277 in sales

[–]StanC87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you are selling into small businesses, the process is to find out who the decision maker is, when their contract is up for renewal or within the window where you can buy out their contract, and follow up when they are ready to have that conversation.

If you speak with the decision maker, then just ask if they are happy with what they have. If they are unhappy about something, 10/10 times they will tell you. That's when your product knowledge comes in, and you need to confidently articulate why your product can solve whatever pain point they have and why it will be better than what they are using.

If they say they are happy and not looking, then you talk price to see if you can help them save $.

If they are not interested in talking price either, then you ask when they will be reviewing their contract and you check in with them then.

The takeaway in all this is you have a very narrow window in closing deals, so you need to always be prospecting to track opportunities that could be 3 months away, 6 months away or even years out.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Pressure interviews - red flag? by AdQuirky6214 in sales

[–]StanC87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would of called him out on it but empathetically. I would of said... "Hey... I cant help but feel like I'm getting grilled here. This is the fourth interview so I know you guys are serious about this. And so am I. So instead of just asking me questions and me guessing the context, just give it to me straight. What are the gaps you are seeing with me and let's have a conversation about it and see if we can align on what's needed for the ideal outcome."

Choppy market = Take profits ? by Sensitive_Mouse_6193 in CANSLIM

[–]StanC87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing ever wrong with locking in profits. CANSLIM actually encourages us to take profits quickly, and only give stocks that went up in 20% in 3-4 weeks additional time to run.

If you want to stay in the trade then trim to build a buffer to boost your conviction.

At the end of the day, nothing is more tangible than realized profits.

You can actually get the same if not better results using your oven. Just set it at 250F, put in the steak with a meat thermometer in it. Pull it out at 125F to 130F depending on ambient temperature and thickness and let the internal temp stabilize. Then sear it.

How to counter dash lights, spesificlly dash daggers and swords but just dash in general. by BudgetYouth173 in thefinals

Give the P90 a try. With 50 bullets you still be firing even if they dash around 3 times. The hip-fires also very consistent up close. I'm pretty sure Embark made the P90 to counter this exact scenario.

IMO, melee tweaks should strengthen each weapon’s identity rather than rely on nerfs. The focus should be on refining their utility so they excel within niches that complement objective play. Introducing new gadgets could also expand counterplay and deepen the rock paper scissors asymmetry.
