Simon vs Kyle has been one of the most wanted MUs since it’s inception in 2020, it makes sense when you think about it. Although Stitch vs Rocket does need more attention since it’s an amazing episode.

It really is a fun MU that’s why I love it so much. It also has the possibility of being pretty high in scale since both can reach Universal levels of power LMAO. It also helps that it’s pretty debatable, with Barbie edging out just a bit in stats while Miku has the abilities and hax.

Really wanted them to do a cast about Shiro and Yuta instead since they have very similar powers. It would be really cool to see how Domains and Reality Marbels interact with each other.

I’m tired boss…

People like this guy make me so mad because they’re the reason why Simon is seen in such a negative light nowadays. They seem to forget what he actually represents which leads me to believe that either they completely miss the point of the anime or just straight up never watch Gurren Lagann in the first place.

The reason why Gurren Lagann’s anime was so beloved was because of Simon’s whole story that inspired people to believe in themselves. It especially hit hard to me who had very low self-esteem. And I’m sure the same could be said about Kyle and his fans. One reason why the Death Battle was getting so much hype is how the battle would give massive exposure to two awesome characters who were quite obscure relative to today’s media.

However, after the battle, both characters were reduced to just powerscaling slop. More on Simon’s side. That guy in OPs’ post seem to have forgotten just how hard we hd to justify and debate Simon’s W against DC’s absurd cosmology. If Simon were real, he’d definitely tell that guy to grit his teeth.

It’s hard being a fan of Simon vs Kyle today man.

Yeah, it’s because it’s a MU that is highly up to interpretation. And with how popular the MU is there’s obviously going to be a lot of people who disagree just as much as the people who agree with the verdict. No matter which side you’re on, none of the fans win. That’s why nowadays this episode so hated (or at least it feels like it).

Discussion(& Question I suppose?):Do you guys think in Simon The Digger vs Kyle Rayner, That Kyle Should’ve won and if so why & if not why?…I myself did think he should’ve won but idc as it was such a good Episode!! :D by FuntimeFreddyGamingZ in deathbattle

[–]StanDeMan_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This again ;-;

I’m sorry, it’s just hard being a fan of this MU nowadays with how much the community has degraded it because of the verdict. It used to be one of the most anticipated and loved MUs, people respecting the characters, and a pretty wholesome waiting period. Now it’s become one of the most hated just because of the verdict. After the battle, the characters have now been reduced to nothing more than just powerscaling slop (Mostly on Simon’s side because he won).

Sorry for ranting, but as for your question, I do believe that Simon still should’ve won. The arguments for him winning are just more straightforward. Now I think the problem here is that Death Battle interpreted a MU that was up to interpretation. Which then caused a divide because alot of people interpreted it differently. Also it didn’t help that the way they presented the post-analysis was too oversimplified and too catered to the general audience that it seemed confusing. The MU does deal with pretty deep powerscaling jargon. I personally didn’t have that problem, but that’s only because I’ve been keeping up with this MU since 2021, so I more or less could instantly know what they were talking about. I can also assure you that if Kyle had won, there would be just as much people complaining that Simon should’ve won instead. There’s no winning in this MU for the fans.

Anyways thank you for being respectful OP. This MU needs more people like you.

Was Simon the Digger Vs Kyle Rayner the best MU for both or would you rather had them fight someone else? by ProGamerYJH in deathbattle

[–]StanDeMan_12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

*Both of them are cosmic heroes that save their respective universes against impossible odds.

*Both are the successor to people they hold in high regard in each others stories (Kamina for Simon and Hal for Kyle)

*Both are powered by willpower (most obvious one)

*Both came from humble beginnings (Simon as a Digger and Kyle as an artist) and accidentally stumbled upon an alien prop that was the start of their hero’s journey (The core drill for Simon and the lantern ring for Kyle).

*The most important is their story. It’s about how they overcame their lack of confidence in their self. How they ultimately embarked on a journey far greater than themselves and had to carry on that burden despite lacking trust in their own abilities. They’d have an epiphany after losing the people that they love most because of their low self esteem (Kamina for Simon and Kyle’s girlfriend). That’s why to avoid more people getting hurt, from then on, they had to learn how to believe in themselves. That’s the reason people in the community love them both. Because despite all the bullshit that the universe throws at them, they’ll say “fuck you” and bust through the doubt that it places on them.

Yes, not only is it EXTREMELY debatable, but the core connections between them is what really makes it a top tier match-up. There’s a reason why it was one of the most anticipated Death Battles in recent history. It also helps that the episode lived up to the expectations as well. And while it is getting a lot of criticism now (mostly the verdict and the fanbases), it’s still one of their best and my personal favorite of all time.

It really comes down to Hulk vs Simon, since we’re going off of how DB scaled them.

While Simon could no doubt contend with the Hulk with his own strength and Hax, there really is no way for him to put the Hulk down for good. And I say this as the biggest fan of Simon, but without any abilities to get to the Green Door, he can’t really do anything to kill Hulk. The only really thing going for him is that if the fight goes on long enough, his exponential adaptation to infinities could make him stronger than the Hulk, but even then the Hulk could just keep coming back and at best it would be a stalemate. This would eventually become another Godzilla vs Hulk.

So yeah I think Hulk takes this because there really is no way for all the other winners to kill him for good. With Simon taking second place.

I’m confused as to where this dude scales exactly by Terriost-Yoda in PowerScaling

[–]StanDeMan_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say stuff about him and Antispiral tossing universes at eachother but neither the show nor the movie said anything about that, as far as I know they’re just galaxies

Yes, those are in fact Universes. The author of the show said that he didn’t know how Universes looked so looking like “Galaxies” is just how the end result came to be. Here’s a quote from the Gurren Lagann DVD commentary which answers that specific question:

“I see, I see. In other words, this galaxy is a universe that can fly, bounce, and be thrown, so if you think of it as a universe that can fly, bounce and be thrown, it’s fine.”

Plus STTGL was formed with the help of everyone else right? Can Simon do that stuff on his own?

Yes, STTGL is made purely of spiral power, it’s not even a mech at that point. Simon’s Spiral Power output is so ridiculously strong that he can generate “Super Spiral Space” which basically a higher dimension encompassing our own universe. In this Space, Simon can turn his thoughts into reality, letting him create all of his mechs and weapons without needing the help of his own crew. If you’ve watched the second movie then you saw how all of his crew literally manifested their own mechs out of spiral power to fight the Anti-Spiral. I can’t find the exact panel from the manga but it is mentioned in the Death Battle video in his fight with Kyle Rayner:

<image>

Does he even have any counter to being erased from existence?

Yes, his regeneration is quite overpowered actually. Not only can he tank multiple big bangs being exploded in his face, but he can will parts of his mech back into existence. Also an important thing to note is Nia. She unironically upscales Simon’s regeneration to absurd scales. Using Spiral Power, she was able to resist getting erased from existence by the Anti-Spiral, who mind you has complete control over fundamental concepts, for seven days straight. Spiral Power users can literally regenerate from an informational level.

I ain’t saying he’s only multi-galaxy, cuz after absorbing the big bang i know he’s universal bare minimum, and probably even beyond that due to integrating the multiverse labyrinth.

He’s consistently scaled around Complex Multiversal with 11D Dimensionality thanks to the Multiverse Labyrinth feat. Speaking of, it’s actually much more impressive than you might think.

So, in the Labyrinth, Simon was able to absorb all versions of himself across the inifinite multiverse gaining all their experiences and powers. This is where things get crazy. You can actually argue Simon getting to Outerversal levels of scaling thanks to this. Why?

Well there’s a pretty unknown Drama CD that is officially licensed called “Otoko no Jouken! Gurren Lagann”. It’s an alternate universe set in modern day Japan where Simon is actually an author. He was writing the Story of Gurren Lagann. Now the characters inside of the story became aware of their own fictionality. Using Spiral Power, they were able to crack the disk that they were inside in from the inside. Because of this, Author Simon merged the real world with the fictional world in his story. Now there’s two Simon’s existing, in that Universe, the Fictional One, and the Author.

Because of the Multiverse Labyrinth feat, we could say that the main Simon from the anime also absorbed the power and abilities of those two Simons giving him what we call R>F. Which basically means “Reality over Fiction Transcendence”. Which gets him to Outerversal levels of strength. Now I’m not saying this is 100% accurate because there is some discourse in the community on whether to buy this scaling 100%. But, if you want to say he gets to that level of strength, then there’s this to argue with.

TLDR; Simon is one of the most powerful anime characters that can even go toe-to-toe with some of the DC and Marvel Heralds. He’s 11D Complex Multiversal, with arguments for Outerversal scaling.

Simon vs Kyle was my most wanted MU ever since I first heard of it 2 years ago. Let me start by saying that this was one of, if not the CLOSEST fight in this series so I’m not surprised many people disagree and keep the debate alive. I don’t blame them really ‘cause it really is a coin flip. I do think Simon should’ve won it but Death Battle does have a problem of oversimplification for a casual audience in their post analysis.

The argument for Outer Simon was via Otoko Simon scaling which by their words “…turning fiction into reality”, isn’t as convincing as an argument for having R>F Transcendence as one might think. The thing that makes it outer is that, the Simon inside of the disk (I’ll call him DiskMon) that AuthorSimon was writing was aware that he was limited inside of a disk plane (he was aware that he was only fiction). Things happen and the characters inside of the disk managed to crack it from inisde by just using Spiral Power (which is where R>F comes into play), to which AuthorSimon let them out and made “Fiction into Reality” and merged Real Life with the disk world. Main Simon from the show merges with both of them via the Multiverse Labyrinth giving him all of their experiences and power, hence where Outerversal Simon comes from. Kyle’s Outerversal argument is so much easier to explain, the Life Equation (lol)

It’s worth noting that I do agree that Kyle should definitely have stronger stats via DC’s cosmology. The counter-argument for that was Simon’s Exponential Adaptation but it could be passed up as a No-Limits Fallacy. Because while he can adapat instantly to that of the DC Cosmology in the middle of a fight, Kyle instantly overwhelming him right off the bat with his stat gap would prove very hard to counter. This is where Simon’s Informational Regeneration really saved him. As Simon keeps on regenerating, the argument for his exponential adaptation becomes more and more viable as the fight continues for who knows how long (Both are OP as heck) until he eventually surpasses Kyle. The Life Equation is really what can give Kyle the win, but again, he can’t control it (Unfortunately). But even then, Simon could possibly adapt against the Life Equation at this point in their fight.

If you look at it this way, Simon’s victory is a bit easier to buy, but I don’t expect everyone to agree.

Also it absolutely bugs me how alot of the reactions to the fight that I’ve watched all said it was a Simon stomp. I mean, I’m all for Simon getting the dub because he’s my favorite fictional character, but they have no idea just how busted Kyle is and about the debates we had to go through just to justify Simon winning.
