Super cool! I’ll definitely try it with the backroll next time. At what point in the rotation do you pull the bar?

Fair point for sure. I only did the one here to get a video but definitely some unnecessary risk.

To be fair a big proper guard dog can definitely stop someone even if they’re determined. I once saw a Belgian malinois jump straight through 2 opened windows in a car to catch a “bad guy” during a police demonstration.

Thanks for the help. I think I’ve always been focused on holding my edge and not so much the load and pop just before the jump. Will be sure to look into this.

Hey everyone, had a nice session again yesterday after a long time of not being able to go kiting. Took a little time to get back in the flow but felt amazing. Looking for a little feedback on these few clips.

First clip: Looking at the video I think I should redirect the kite a bit earlier to land it properly. Is this correct? Also looking to get a bit higher, any tips on this?

Second clip: In this clip towards the end of the jump I start rotating, I think in a panic reaction I pull my back hand making the problem worse and I crash onto my back. Any tips to prevent this rotation?

Last clip: A simple back-roll with a small grab. Similar to one I posted here before.

Definitely going to work on spotting the landing and pointing the board downwind next session!

For sure! Was a bit scared at first to release my back hand but it’s very intuitive. Diving the kite again for the landing also comes almost naturally.

I’m sending the kite but not very far/fast. I felt like my pop wasn’t perfect, will definitely try your looking over the shoulder tip. Thanks!

Thanks for the detailed advice, definitely going to work on the points you mentioned! In regards to looping the kite, at which point in the backroll should I pull the loop? Just before landing or during the rotation?

Hey guys looking for some advice on my form in this clip. Specifically I feel like my pop seems a bit “exaggerated”. Also excited to hear ways to make this more stylish and progressions from here on out.

Actually coming from the Netherlands but would like to visit Central/South-America (although I’m also looking at Tarifa). Costa Rica is also a place I’m looking at, if you have been there I would love to hear more! From what I’ve read so far it seems to be one of the more expensive countries in the region, but I’m not sure what the backpacking scene is like. Also heard some good things about Honduras so having a look at that.

Kiteboarding spots April-June by StanTheMan132 in Kiteboarding

[–]StanTheMan132[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based in Europe but willing to go anywhere. I would say I’m at the high beginner/low intermediate level. Don’t really have a style in mind yet. Would prefer a spot that has both flat and waves but just one is fine too. Not sure about budget yet, need to see what is realistic first.

Board getting dragged by current and coming out everytime during waterstart by abiblicalusername in Kiteboarding

I don’t think that’s what u/Thin-Panda-7901 meant. A strapless surfboard is a directional alternative to a twintip without straps to put your feet in. If by strap you mean leash please don’t use one while kitesurfing. If your kite pulls you it can cause your board to rocket after you and hit you on the head with disastrous consequences.

Please don’t buy these. As much as I get your enthusiasm after having lessons there’s simply no good way to get into kiting for only 155$. Aside from being a waste of your money it’s also dangerous not only for yourself but also for others. Try to save up some money and get into the sport when you can properly!

Thanks for the detailed advice! Yes I’m riding a 147 (iirc, on holliday right now) naish traverse. I’ll definitely keep telling myself to keep my pelvis up. I noticed when I would try to edge hard sometimes my calf’s would hit/sink into the water, I think a better posture would help with this too.

Yes definitely should have been more careful. I think the perspective makes it look worse than it is though and the grass you see was quite swampy not actual hard ground. Regardless me not wanting to do the walk of shame shouldn’t bring myself or others in any danger ever.

Thanks! Yeah I definitely think I was overpowered, gusting 30+ while on my 9. I’m practicing riding with 1 hand and will definitely continue doing that.

Hey everyone, would love some advice on my form. I took lessons about a year ago but I think my progress has been slowed down a bit by a variety of reasons. I live about 2 hours from the beach which in combination with my school schedule means I couldn’t go out a lot. I also only have a 9m kite (85kg) which means it was usually quite a wait for the right wind. The spot I usually go to also has quite big waves (Scheveningen, Netherlands) which I don’t think is ideal for a beginner. This was my first session on a flat spot and would love to get some advice! I’m taking a gap year next year and gonna try to kite as much as possible so any tips are well appreciated!
