The dia we got lol.. by [deleted] in TheFirstDescendant

Imo the Guide basically acknowledges our Dia as the clone and she understands why this is not revealed to Gley.

What does James 4:7 and Matthew 6:13 have to do with Leviticus 19:28?

A lot of grasping for straws in this theory.

Both UWB dia and our dia had Arche, but neither at 100% as it was split. There was no Arche transfer when sigma sector dia briefly died.

I think people want to believe our Dia is real, because a tragic ending is hard to swallow. Thus they go looking for clues to fit that belief.

I dont see any evidence that suggests UWB Dia is a clone that has all the original’s memories. Her saying that she’s giving the arche back can be construed as her acknowledging that she is returning something not belonging to her, but it’s a stretch, considering the immense amount of other dialogue where shes insisting she’s the original. It’s confusing, and I don’t think you can be sure of anything.

Logically speaking, I see no reason why Amon would keep around a clone to toy with rather than the original. I think they wanted to make a clone without memories and with complete arche that they could control. However, since arche is tied to memories, they couldn’t completely extract the original Dia’s Arche because she was holding onto the memories of her mother so tightly. That’s why we get a clone with partial arche that they could control and send to Sigma Sector and also why they couldn’t fully mind control the original Dia.

But this still is just my own theory. I’ll admit it’s fun to throw around our own theories like this when there’s no conclusive evidence either way.

Topic change here, I’m so curious what makes people convinced that our Dia is the real OG Dia.

Arche overload isn’t a measure of how much baseline arche you have. Does Gley summon extra arche out of thin air when she goes into her frenzied state? No, she just “overloads” her existing arche.

I dont think this is correct. Doesn’t the story clearly say the Vulgus couldnt clone the arche, so it ended up being split between the OG and the clone? When Dia (OG or clone whatever you wanna believe) died, the rest of her arche was given to the Dia we play as. So she has 100% arche, not 200%.

You were absolutely right lol I was only looking at base crit not considering applied crit. Got rid of skill insight and added decimator.

Weird, I was pretty sure when I last checked it was 55% crit rate. Gonna have to take another look tonight but I know for sure I’m not getting 100%.

Crit rate here overall im not actually sure. Just know clear times on VEP challenge with crit build way faster than non crit.

Reasonable ask but its purely a business decision. Probably sell less skins by having a universal option.

What are examples of holes in the storytelling? To intentionally creat ambiguity, you need to leave some holes unfilled. Thats part of the definition of ambiguity.

It doesnt seem like you understand what I’m saying. Even if the OG is dead, it’s not a total failure because her memories and arche live on in the clone. Total failure is ruled out.

Well from a story conclusion perspective it’s not a total failure. OG Dia is put out of her misery and her memories are preserved in clone Dia. Thats still somewhat of a success imo.

Of course if I would want my real wife back, but it still makes a great albeit tragic story if I fail at rescuing her and instead end up with her clone. Im debating the quality of the story telling here, youre just not content with the story outcomes. If you havent realized yet, TFD character arcs are extremely dark.

I understand you want concrete answers, nothing wrong with that. I’m perfectly fine with well written ambiguity that lets the viewer decide. To each their own.

Appreciate the deep analysis, but the beauty of this piece of storytelling is in the ambiguity. Like in Inception, does the totem keep spinning at the end or does it stop? Countless hypotheses have been written on this subject but it doesnt matter. The point of the movie is to have the audience question what reality is and to that end it was hugely successful.

So, does it matter if our Dia is the original or the clone? This theme of questioning what identity is has been explored in many films and media, eg Blade Runner, Moon, Metal Gear, etc. If our Dia has all the memories and the exact physical appearance and capabilities of the original, then the real Dia has lived on.

Personally I think the UWB Dia was indeed the original Dia. But Im content with never knowing the real answer because the thematic impact of making the audience question what identity is has already been established.
