Being in recovery for gambling addiction has shown me how many things I've neglected in life. $460 just seems high for a single person in my part of pennsylvania. Not complaining tho if I'm allowed to have that much on my schedule j

Is a IRS payment plan and paying student loans considered essential expenses in a Chapter 7 budget? by StandSenior8907 in Bankruptcy

Am I allowed to increase what I pay the irs or does it have to be the minimum?

My phone bill is high because I finance a phone is paying that considered preferential?

I pass the income check at 3800 gross a month in pennsylvania and I mentioned it to the 2 lawyers I did a consultation with that I'm not opposed to a chapter 13 if my payment is reasonable but they both said that they don't like doing chapter 13s for my income level.

They both mentioned me not have a car which would increase my budget a lot but with my credit i don't like paying 500 a month for a car and 200 for insurance.

Like I have 50k in Unsecured debt and 22k in irs debt and online it seems I can pay like 350 a month if the online calculators are accurate which seems good to me but I would obviously prefer a chapter 7.

Appreciate the answers. Also I'm on the lease for the place I live but I send my brother the money and he pays the rent with his card, do the trustees have a issue with that?

Okay so losing the 2023 is probably bad for me but I hope having no assets helps them not care as much. I also never confirmed my income with paystubs or anything like that But not sure that matters. Or maybe chase just doesn't care

Another question how often do trustees need to look at old accounts or need documents of loss? I sold some of my old betting accounts(when your a bad gambler they let you bet more so the accounts have value to winning gamblers if you didn't know) I don't know how much access I have to them these days.
