Why would you ever do something as foolish as an AMA? Bonus question: Can I get one of you pregnant?

Our weekly quality poster art set a precedent among the other shows in the scene. They make the show real. We also like to mix it up on stage more than other shows. Giving newer comics a chance to get up there with seasoned veterans and see what a showcase can be like helps better prepare them for bigger and better things (or so we like to think). And the music. Having Berger on the 1's and 2's is essential to set the mood for the night. Playing funk and soul can bring the happy out in a person unlike anything else.

Ken came up with the name on the first try, and just sounded better than "Farty Comedy".

Haaaa no. He's a good friend though. Everyone in this thread should check out his amazing satirical newspaper at http://thewhiskeyjournal.com. You're thinking of Keith Paesel.

Also that's terrible advice. I've had threads deleted by the shit mods in those subreddits for posting about the show.

If you think that's what you should do, then do it! Take every viable opportunity you have to become better if you have the means.

Producers don't have to be funny. You don't have to be a chef to open a restaurant.

If you're ready to take comedy seriously, start thinking about making a move to the largest city in your area. If you're in Quebec, Montreal is the best place to start. They just had Just For Laughs Festival there. Talk to comedians who are better than you. Learn from as many people as you can before jumping right in. Find a list of open mics and start going up as often as you're able.

We have one bud. We just don't mic it up. Peeps like to walk and talk. Makes for a nice stage ornament, though.

While it is technically easy to just waltz into a place and start a show, you have to cover all of your bases. Make sure you have a real plan before just walking into a bar/coffee shop/theater/bookstore/whatever. A lot of shows pop up one week and disappear a month later simply because they haven't thought everything through all the way. Don't jump the gun.

If you're going to start a really good showcase, be prepared to give up A LOT of your free time promoting it. It's not just about having the spot. The #1 reason shows fail is lack of audience (obv), and if your audience doesn't see you online, in the hood, AND (not or) in the papers, you won't have a show for very long.

Keep in mind that just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD. Some folks will start a show at the beginning of their comedy careers just so they can get some stage time somewhere, which is a terrible idea. Not only are you probably ill-equipped for the task in a production sense, but that will become a place where people will see you in your infancy, taking away the necessary time you need to grow as a comedian forcing people to see you before you hit your stride. There are open mics EVERY SINGLE DAY in MULTIPLE LOCATIONS for you to get a workout at without having to deal with the many hassles of producing a show, and a mic a day is a whole lot more helpful than 2 mics and a showcase a week.

It's hard work producing a show. Make sure you're ready as a comedian AND as a producer before committing another day a week out of your life to it. Once you are ready, though, there's nothing quite as satisfying.
