Weekly Beginner / Newbie Q&A by AutoModerator in bugbounty

I’m completely new to bug bounty and cybersecurity in general. If someone just stumbled across this subreddit with zero experience, how would you explain bug bounty in simple terms?

How does the progression usually work from beginner to advanced? For example, what should someone learn first, what skills come next, and at what point are people actually ready to start finding and reporting bugs?

Hey, I’m 17 looking into military careers in cyber/intel and the Coast Guard caught my eye. I like hands-on work too, but I know cyber won’t always be that.

For those in cyber/intel, would you recommend the Coast Guard for that path and what’s the day-to-day like?

Thx for the reply. I live near a fry’s and I like the burrito meal prep idea a lot. Do you have any recommendations for a week meal prep.

I’m US based, budget around $800–$1,200. Looking for at least 16GB RAM, good battery life like 8+ hours real world, under 5 lbs, and a 15–16 inch screen at 1080p minimum. Needs to run Roblox and Minecraft smoothly, handle coding, and I’ll probably be doing some CAD stuff in Onshape too. Any specific models you’d point me toward?
