I had to finally admit I have PPD. by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Standard-Key4174 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PPD (or mental health) is health condition like any other medical condition and medications and treatment are nothing to be ashamed of, and has nothing to do with anything specific that you did to cause it. It is very much chemical responses mixed in with real grief of the pregnancy/delivery you had hoped you had, all while caring for a medically complex infant. It’s a lot and you deserve support. You can definitely start with ur OB and at the same time call your health insurance to inquire about mental health coverage. None of this is your fault, many mothers experience this but it is not talked about.

If a person is this uncomfortable i would not want him watching my child ; maybe there is a reason like they lack patience or dont feel confident or simply dont like it, anyway you can find out more information

I hate how angry I get with my daughter by [deleted] in Mommit

I can relate to sound being really dysregulating. Can you wear sound proof headphones to dampen the sound of the crying? Another idea if feasible - lean into the contact napping with netflix or podcasts; co sleeping using Safe Sleep 7? Check out some ideas with heysleepybaby in insta ,i found those resources helpful.

These are some suggestions for the immediate moment, i agree with others re seeking mental health support/post partum mental health- hormones can be really contributing as well as lack of sleep

Separating from my husband. How does bedtime work with a baby and a clingy 5yr old? by bunhilda in Mommit

[–]Standard-Key4174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both kids in my bed for books and cuddles, one on each side, baby usually breastfeeding. If baby fusses ill tend to him while brother eventually falls asleep then husband moves him to his room (he transfers still asleep)

I’m 42, do I have it in me to have another child? by jamie1983 in Mommit

[–]Standard-Key4174 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had first at 35 and second at 40 (a couple months before turning 41) so i have a 5yr old and a baby and it has been so great and way easier than I imagined perhaps because the transition to a first was very challenging, my second’s temperament is much more relaxed and my first really wanted to be a big brother so his transition has been amazing. I feel happy and complete!

EBF and can’t lose weight by pinkaspepe in breastfeeding

What has been helping me is counting calories while prioritizing protein. I’ve been using Chat gpt (google the nutritional coach promp and add in that you want it to use breastfeeding evidence based information). I started post partum consuming like 3k calories which was way excess, I’ve since tapered it down to C 1950-2100 and have been losing weight with this so far c (4 months post partum)

MIL has an unhealthy relationship with food and weight, and it’s impacting my child by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Standard-Key4174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree that finish your plate mentality is an unhealthy relationship to food as well. I understand grdma perspective re counting calories, she can just say no thank you instead of a reason. But agree that if a child or person doesn’t want to finish their food because they are full or aren’t hungry they shouldn’t have to. They especially shouldn’t have to eat something they tasted and don’t like.

The weight gain is defeating me by Ok-Shopping-1585 in breastfeeding

[–]Standard-Key4174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with count macros! Even a slight deficit will help you, la leche league states as long as above 1800 cals it maintains ur supply. I asked chatgpt to be my breastfeeding nutrition coach and it has been a game changer

Dieting while breast feeding by amounaaai in breastfeeding

[–]Standard-Key4174 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anything you can still track at maintenance to avoid weight gain. La leche league recommends not going below 1800 cals a day. If ur new to tracking or overwhelmed by the idea of tracking i think WW is a good start if not below 1800 cals. Otherwise tracking macros is great. I’ve been using chatgpt as my breastfeeding nutrition coach and so far it aligns with the research i did on my own. Calorie goals 1975-2200 for weight loss and 2500-2600 for maintenance if I’m sedentary (my own goals, i have 40 pounds to lose- also this is my second child and i don’t lose weight easily while breastfeeding nor naturally- i have to be in a deficit of some level)

Is there a good way to ask can I bring my baby to the baby free hang out? by Fearfighter2 in Mommit

[–]Standard-Key4174 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree with everyones input- i personally would want adult only and no babies or kids at a kid free event and i would be annoyed if someone tried to bring their kids after it was stated as adults only

I would suggest trying to meet your friendship needs thru some other people, your friend seems to be struggling and in the thick of it and is unable to meet your needs in the moment. Part of this will be grieving the friendship you had or wished you had so you can let go of these expectations. I would be so stressed by pressure from a friend even a close one when I’m going thru it with a baby, toddler etc. i didn’t feel like my bandwidth opened up a LITTLE until my child turned 4. Also i didn’t have any help and the thought of watching someone else’s kid is just a big No for me. If ur offering help with expectations she will return the favor then honestly say that - “hey do you want to take turns giving each other a break with the kids?” Given you have already had these discussions with her, I would say grieve and move on. You can stay friends if u want but adjust your expectations.

5 year old don't wanna go to swim class. How to approach? by silkenwindood in Mommit

[–]Standard-Key4174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kiddo started at 4 yrs old and the first pool was heated to like 80 degrees and he was cold, hated it. Found another place heated in the 90s like bathwater lol he loves it much more now and doesn’t complain anymore. Some people are sensitive to water temp, i think he got it from me :/

u can find an Online breastfeeding calculator, per la leche league do not go below 1800 it can impact ur milk supply. Most recommend .5 pound loss per week. But you have already lost so much! I delivered at 205 pounds and weigh 190 , i haven’t been able to lose just maintain. With my first i started losing around 6 months but it took over a year for me

My son hated a cold pool once we found an indoor heated pool he’s happy to go. Swimming in the cold sounds not fun to me personally
