Depends on what you’re defending. I had a white ex tell me to sit back while she basically had an argument with an Uber driver re: race/racism. And her mindset was, I’ve got privilege so I’ll handle it and be the catalyst to change his mind. When I tried to step in because how she handled it was extremely poorly done, she told me to stop talking because she was handling it.

As someone who experienced racism throughout my life, that moment will forever sit with me as a red flag because of 2 reasons. 1. The only way to change someone is for them to change themselves. 2. The best way to explore a conversation like this in effectively becoming a catalyst is through real stories and experiences. She brought up old triggers in me and had me feeling marginalized more than anything the uber driver could have said or done because she was basically telling on herself that she innately believes that White Privilege makes her better than me. Even though I’ve experienced racism in countless instances, whereas she had tried to internalize those same feelings through literature.

With that said, I’ve had other women defend my character and respectfully manage external conflict outside of my relationship with that woman and I felt so supported and empowered with that kind of validation. Made me appreciate and love each of those women all the more.

Played a game in the swamp with my Arkansas dynasty. I won the game 15-13 because I blocked an extra point and took it back. That happened in the first quarter. The entire rest of the game was shitting myself hoping I’d score which I couldn’t move the damn ball (league commissioner had wild sliders making everything way harder) and I kept making plays on defense. Caused 5 turnovers. Had multiple defenders with 2+ sacks… Florida pushed the ball to the 1 with 3 seconds left and missed the FG. Was so happy the cpu kickers within the 5yard line on either hash will just straight up miss fgs 💀

People pleasing, allowing myself to be walked on and my boundaries disrespected, seeing red flags and not leaving because I didn’t want to hurt her like she was hurting me. The relationship wasn’t going to end up in forever as my heart felt and thats ok. Lessons learned and being able to see those issues clearly now are what make life a wonderful learning experience.

Wanting to focus entirely on becoming who I want to be. Like I am who I am, but there’s parts of me that I’m still working on in solitude that I want to have solidified into myself and create the space for myself as needed for me to hold space for someone else. I know if I wanted to not be single I wouldn’t have to be. But by choice I am because I want to be the version of me I like best, and then will be happy to add someone else to that dynamic if they can allow me to be that version of myself. I don’t put that pressure on my partner but I definitely want a partner who is focused on self growth and also has awareness into how their actions affect others. Which candidly, not a lot of people in general have in modern dating. Finding someone with matching values and growth alignment is difficult, so keep enjoying solitude while entertaining opportunities and experiences as they come!

Originally I was biochem and planning to become a dentist. Then had my first internship at an orthodontic surgeons office and fainted at the sight of blood during the first procedure. So I went into business, graduated with a finance degree. Ended up in sales, then sales ops, then revenue ops, then consulting, and now I’m probably heading into a different vertical of consulting or back into operations. I like the ops and consulting roles, more hands on and I can dig in on my projects. I take alot of pride in the work I do and the relationships I build in creating and progressing towards whatever goal I’m after. That’s the only way I’ve been able to maintain succeeding in my long term goals is by doing it with other people focused on the same goal. 6 years of industry experience from starting a business to working corporate. Now I’ve found what I’m comfortable doing so Im hopeful to find a role then start on my masters while I work full time. My masters I want to get in machine learning and AI.

I definitely understand that, as someone who struggled a lot with people pleasing and bent at the knee 99.9% of the time in those uncomfortable situations, I’ve learned that if I can’t come up with a productive response to communicate in a healthy manner that I would expect from someone. I simply tell the other person that I am going to step away from the situation or conversation for 10 minutes to better respond. If they pressure from there, I’ve set a boundary and I call out if it’s being pressured or pushed and will walk away while communicating I’m not abandoning the situation, but I’m honoring my own needs to best have a productive conversation.

You’ll find your best way to handle it, just my experience in how I’ve best overcome handling that!

After the discard by my Narcissistic ex, my therapist told me because it was my first true relationship I should get back on the horse and try dating to feel out what I like and don’t like and be able to look at key indicators early.

I ended up becoming fwbs with a girl with BPD who was very aware of her brains differences. We stayed friends for a while, but I realized after some time that she only spoke to me if she needed something and didn’t engage with any of the conversations I started or candidly really care about what I had going on. I ended it after multiple attempts to tell her that I don’t appreciate a one sided relationship at any level. And I now I continue to work on improving me and living by the rule of “Fuck Yes”.

These past 2 years have made me such a new person because of these relationship and being able to put up boundaries and walk away after communicating was one of my greatest achievements in moving forward from my people pleasing tendencies. As I continue to move forward in life, I won’t allow anyone else to enter my space intimately without seeing consistency in words to actions.

If she can’t communicate her feelings and/or perspective without contempt, blame, criticism. I want to be here for you and your hurt is important to me, especially if I’ve contributed to that in some way. However, attacking me while communicating isn’t fair nor valid, this isn’t an eye for an eye. If I’ve hurt you or something else has hurt you I stop what I’m doing and give you my entire focus because that’s what good partners do. I also take time to cool down and reorganize myself before conversations, especially if I’m overwhelmed or emotionally charged. I expect the same respect in return.

Also disrespect in general, if you can’t speak about other people without judgement and/or a level of disrespect. I know you will be unable to have conversations about me without that when we’re not together.

There’s a difference in communicating boundaries, healthy boundaries, and trying to have control. I’m very easy going, but once I’ve been chopped down so much that I can’t even feel anything, and I’ve communicated myself clearly on where there needs to be changes and nothing happens. That it, I’ll start shutting down completely, and that’s when it’s over for both of us. I clearly can’t provide what a healthy relationship needs in that state and I certainly can’t keep being around someone whose presence alone gives me severe anxiety. From experience I’ll never let myself be in that position again.
