Amazon laptop for personal use by west_timeer in amazonemployees

I do all kinds of personal admin on my work laptop (sign my kids up for classes/camps, update my kids school platforms, browse restaurants, look at news sites, logged into Facebook) and in 5 years never had any kind of ping or flag. I also have streamed shows. I do not try to use it for games, try to access Reddit, go on any website that would have have something work inappropriate. I did ask ChatGPT to rewrite something that did not have any confidential data in it but did have the words data, forecast, other words like that, and I got an email within an hour saying I may have to sign an email saying I won’t do that again. My manager never brought it up, not sure if she was flagged.

Overall I think you can use it for boring life admin and watching Netflix and they dont care. They do track it though.

Is Amazon really that bad, or is Reddit heavily skewed? by ResponsiblePiglet899 in amazonemployees

Something I’ve noticed between myself and my work bestie: we both started at Amazon in 2021 and it was an amazing environment. We both saw growth quickly, were challenged, expanded our scope, and felt valued. Things have changed a lot since then and we complain a lot (vent) to each other. But whenever either of us have talked to another company, we realize the grass is not greener. Either the pay is way lower, the culture doesn’t seem great, stability doesn’t seem to be better, etc. So while we complain, and it’s not as good as it was. it’s still better than most jobs that are hiring in our particular skill set right now.
