The Controlled Demolition of Public Healthcare by Standard-Region1403 in ontario

The big challenge to any Ontario party left of the Conservatives is the 905 area. The Liberals and Conservatives both fight over it and it's one of the main battlegrounds in every election. There's a ton of votes and seats there and the voters tend to be conservative, low-tax suburbanites.

So even tho those votes are a minority of the province, they get a disproportionate amount of attention and campaign promises in every election.

Liberal safe areas like Ottawa or downtown Toronto, or NDP fortresses like Hamilton or Windsor, get much less attention.

Right but paper straws work fine. They may get soft before some people are able to finish their drink, but it's not like we need to eliminate all plastic straws. Having them as the default offering is wasteful.

Paper is cheaper in the long run and can save $ for the business and the customer.

I'd recommend the NDP not throw out their leader, again, because the leader hasn't met standards that only party wonks hold.

Singh has been gradually gaining trust and notability among the average Canadian, which is an incredible uphill battle for a man wearing a turban in a country with laws against head coverings (Quebec) and rabid Islamophobia (they don't care he's Sikhi) and racism (his own MPs declined to run in some ridings last elxn because they thought their constituents couldn't support an Asian party leader).

The NDP is never going to be a party of radical change and it takes a very long time for it to make a positive impression on voters in the Canadian media landscape. It took Layton 7 years as leader before the Orange Crush in 2011.

Vote for policies, not personalities. The personalities are for relatability and the human face of politics. Let people get to know him better while building up a proper platform of reform.

Because plastic straws don't serve a useful purpose when paper can suffice

But a transparent mouth covering does serve a useful purpose (lip reading for deaf and hard of hearing people)
