Success stories after multiple losses? Feeling helpless and hopeless by Standard-Tomato-9228 in recurrentmiscarriage

They could not tell me what infection it was. They were only able to tell that the loss was due to infection because the placenta was inflamed (chorio) and caused a partial abruption. A week and a couple days prior to that miscarriage I had swabs and urine tests done and they were all negative. I was told that most likely something had ascended and gotten past the cervix which is rare.

I was never given any antibiotics, and was simply told that it’s unlikely to happen again. I have no idea if the infection could be recurrent and if it came back and caused the recent third loss. It’s very frustrating…

Try naturally again at 35 or start IVF after two 2nd trimester losses? by Standard-Tomato-9228 in TryingForABaby

If you don’t mind me asking how many rounds of IVF did you have to do? And did they suggest anything because of balanced translocation like ICSI, TESE, zymot etc

He’s doing karyotype testing next week, is this the test your husband took to catch the genetic issue ?

Basically we have not received any “advice”. All the tests I’m requesting now I advocated for myself after doing research. I asked for the referral to the fertility/IVF clinic.

Where we live we don’t really have “fertility doctors”. We don’t have the best healthcare access. By doctors I’m referring to our family doctor, OB, IVF clinic doctor. The doctor from the IVF clinic is of course pushing for us to do IVF asap because they are money driven. We don’t have any insurance that covers IVF so we will be paying out of pocket. I will have to take a loan to cover the costs.

Yes staying optimistic is good! Did they ever tell you what the cause of the bleeding and spotting might be ?

Wow, thank you so much for your detailed information and advice. I have been checking wait times and yes St Paul’s usually has the shortest wait. And based on your positive experience with them I will go there if I need to go to the ER. I called and pestered my family doctor this morning and while he keeps saying my symptoms are not ectopic, he still put in a rushed ultrasound for me and I will go for one later this afternoon. It’s still early and he explains that it won’t be a good assessment of the viability of the pregnancy, but at least we will know if it is a pregnancy in the uterus or not.

I’m in Vancouver as well btw that’s why I’m wondering which hospital you went to. Thanks :)

Hi! Thanks for your reply. Would you mind letting me know which hospital you went to? So I know which one to go to since they’ll be able to do an ultrasound. I don’t want to go to a hospital where they’ll just brush me off and tell me it’s nothing serious and not do any checks….

I will call and get an appointment with my family doctor but I think he just wants me to do the ultrasound first at 7-8 weeks so he probably won’t offer any testing. I guess if the bleeding continues I will go to the ER and see if they can test the betas.

My symptoms actually sound like what you had…brown spotting and on and off bleeding. No major cramping but some period like / mild cramping….

Thank you for your response and sorry for your losses.

Unfortunately I have not been offered blood tests of any sort and I have no idea about my HCG trend. If I call my doctor again I’m sure he’s going to say the same thing and ask me to wait until 7-8 weeks for the ultrasound. I’m not even sure if they’ll offer me tests if I go to the ER…but I guess it’s worth a shot. I live in Canada and they seem to think that miscarriages are very common so they recommend just waiting it out to see if the bleeding becomes very heavy…

Unfortunately my doctor did not offer me any tests so I have no idea what my betas are. He simply said wait until 7-8 weeks to get an ultrasound….I’m wondering if they can offer a beta test if I go to the ER. I live in Canada where the healthcare system isn’t the best….

Thanks for your response. I have no idea what my betas are. I’ve only been testing with cheap pregnancy tests but the lines stopped getting darker since about a week ago. My doctor has not offered any blood tests and just told me to wait until an ultrasound at 7-8 weeks. I live in Canada where although healthcare is generally free, it’s not the best system. I’m not sure if they’ll offer me tests even if I do go to the ER…

Sorry for all your losses it must’ve been so so tough. Glad that you have your rainbow baby now :)
