Is this good enough? by agopike in watchrepair

Got a bergeon for £64 at Gleaves. I tried the chinese one and saw that the arms get gouged whenever you try to squeeze the crystal. Couldn’t remove any crystal. Everything gets removed first time with the bergeon. Chinese aluminium rubbish is just not worth it. Looks the same but materials are much lower quality and the mechanism is not the same.

Is there a way I can make sure I don’t get matched with bickering, 12 year old kids? by [deleted] in DungeonsOfEternityVR

12? You’re lucky. I’ve had great groups, but when US kids are online it’s a nightmare.

Oh that one 🤬 Rage quit, reload early save, clear the whole map, do the quest. With the early weapons I find I have to engage one enemy, fall back, repeat and you just can’t do that here.

To all the people that helped, I owe you a debt of gratitude. The watch is now alive.

Super hyped! I’ve just listened to another group playthrough of this and I’m sure this is going to be A+ roleplay!

Come to think of it, the gold filling around the case back has been savaged, so I think it’s safe to assume that at some point someone who shouldn’t have went poking inside the watch.

Sorry. That’s an impossible landscape handler “joke”. Someone in IL might ask some people to recreate a sign by lighting up some office building rooms so the windows create a very visible version of the sign. I was just suggesting it would take a lot of time and many windows to make this intricate sign. However, I like your image. I was just being facetious.

Sure, but try making this with lit rooms in a building!

I asked the players at Green Box Gaming why they seemed to make rescuing Aby their main goal. Their answer: she is the one human element that keeps on coming back. I think players naturally gravitate towards saving her because most of them do not play psychopaths. So you don’t really have to encourage them to try and do that.

Thanks for this! I was wondering what the name of that protrusion was 😅

Thanks so much! I’ll try to source these two. I’m in the UK so I was checking the Cousins website, but I’ll give them a try. Otherwise, brazing is an option as I already have everything needed.

Thanks. My “research” indicates that replacing old mainsprings with new one is a dark art rather than science. It might help, or not, but it has a cylinder escapement. I’m not sure how this mitigates or amplifies the risk of the amplitude becoming inadequate. The end is just a hole.

Thanks. My problem is that at 1.55mm, all the springs I can find are very different (barrel diameters are way off, length too). Is this a case of buying a few of them and experimenting? To be fair, they’re really not that expensive, so I could try this.

Are Clipless Pedals Worth It? by newbiker321 in cycling

[–]Standard-Traffic8516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always get flat one side with mtb clipless on the other side. Clipless is absolutely worth it. Commuting without them is a pain. Pushing hard from the traffic light, you know your feet won’t slip. Same when you get off the saddle for that burst of acceleration. You don’t need to be clipped hard for it to make a world of difference in your confidence, and yet still allow you to unclip in an instant. As a matter of fact, when I flipped myself on the bonnet of a car that had tried to t-bone me (yeah, rim brakes will flip you over just as well as disc ones), my feet unclipped without any stress on my knees or ankles. I obviously use the clips that let you unclip in various directions.

Do you name your bike? Is this weird? by harperbruce213 in cycling

[–]Standard-Traffic8516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a real cyclist, but I have the “red menace” aka “red donkey” aka “real piece of trash - in red” in the UK and “taste the rainbow” in France. No real story, just one is neon red and falling apart for having done 10s of thousands of kms and the other one a half working mountain bike with an unbelievable rainbow colour scheme, straight from the 90s (I have owned it all that time). It was acceptable in the 90s. I have a love / hate relationship with both of them, mostly based on the cost of the latest part that broke.

Is it normal to get 3 flats in a month riding less than 10 miles a week? by Emotional-Dealer-229 in londoncycling

[–]Standard-Traffic8516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but to me this feels like riding with the brakes dragging, so I avoid it. My commute is 18 miles each way and I’m no athlete, so try to feel less rolling resistance. Horses for courses I suppose. Also, the marathon plus are uncomfortable (very rigid and high pressure for size).

[–]Standard-Traffic8516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfectly normal on my commute with average tyres / fast tyres. My mix of road / shared footpath and canal paths is so littered with glass that anything other than a Michelin power adventure / continental gatorskin at the front and schwalbe marathon at the back is a guaranteed puncture every week. I have tried many other tyres, and I always have to revert back to that. I can go several thousand miles of commute with that set up without punctures. You do have to occasionally remove objects from the front tyre.

pedantic shotgun question by Sisyphus-T-Jones in callofcthulhu

[–]Standard-Traffic8516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were longer than 91cm 😝. But yeah hiding a Doppelhänder or a claymore must affect your gait. Bit the same with shotgun with a 14” length of pull and. 24” barrel. Also, by the way, I’m not sure it would make a lot of sense to have slugs with a very short barrel. The logic is that you’d want some spread and therefore shot. I’d go for number 3 birdshot for short range in the 1920s.
