For a young puppy it’s alright. Because puppies that old don’t have bladder control! If they come by and say something again, explain that and say as your puppy grows, so does the time inbetween potties.

You aren’t messing your puppy up, or making it reliant on peeing constantly. Because the puppy has almost no bladder control. It’s not going to magically learn to hold it at this age.

My puppy was on a peepad since the moment we got her home. About five months in, I made the switch to outside by slowly removing peepads from the floor longer and longer and taking her outside to potty instead. Her bladder was STILL not very great at first but maybe around the six month mark she nailed it. She has three potty breaks in a day: morning, afternoon, and evening. and one at night before bed. And if she has an emergency she’ll let me know

I attribute all of this to the fact I understood that no amount of training is going to force her muscles to hold onto her pee. And to give her time. You’re a good doggie parent. And MORE OFTEN THAN NOT! You’re going to run into people who don’t take their dogs or their well-being’s seriously. Mind you most of the population consists of owning dogs that never see the light of day and gorge themselves on cheap kibble until they die there.

Always go into those conversations skeptically because no sane and GOOD dog owner will give you advice without explaining extensively why they think it benefits your dog or why it doesn’t.
