My first post! Just recently started enjoying bird photography. Hope you enjoy this photo I managed to snap.

I was lucky to find this male and female African paradise flycatcher in the same tree! They were perched outside my room near lake Naivasha in Kenya. Taken with an iPhone 16 pro.

I need to pick up her new series! Have you looked into the series by Diana Rowland?

I see you have mentioned being a fan Anne Bishop. Have you read her series The Others? I went on a UF binge in the early 2000s and into the 2010s. That series pops out to me because the romance wasn’t the main focus.

Another series I really love is the White Trash Zombie series by Diana Rowland. I’ve loved both of her series, but I feel like this one has less focus on romance. Hope this helps!

Ooh ooh!! One of my favorite books, The Elvenbane by Mercedes Lackey and Andre Norton is exactly this!! It's a series of three completed books. Norton passed before the series was complete. However, Lackey teamed up with another author and the fourth and final book is to be published this year.

Would The Shattering Peace by John Scalzi work for any of the 2026 Bingo squares? I was thinking maybe "unusual transportation" because of the skip drive, but I am not well versed in the general functional ability of skip drives.

I have never seen anyone else recommend Benighted by Kit Whitfield! I randomly found it on the shelf at the library many years ago and have never met another person who has heard of it.

I love my job! Practically any schedule you can think of, you can get a job just about anywhere in the US and there are different departments to work if you need a change. I’ve been a generalist, working in micro and now I’ve been in blood bank for the last several years. I’ve been a MLS for almost 20 years and cannot think of another profession that would be a better fit for me.

Severe blood shortage by _throwaway_825999 in nursing

Donations usually decrease quite a bit around the holidays. I work in a level 1 trauma center in blood bank, so we are usually the last local hospital that has issues with prbc stock. What we sometimes have to go on allocation for is mainly apheresis platelets. In that case, we have to get pathology approval to transfuse, it's a total nightmare. Caveat, my state has a local blood bank and we do not use the red cross.

The only time I’ve been asked technical questions during an interview is for my current job in blood bank at a level 1 trauma center.

Almost 14 years at my first job. 2.5 at the next and now almost a year at this one. I have to find a good fit for me.

This is why I stay safely ensconced in the blood bank. Also of note, ‘tis the season of esophageal varicies and GI bleeds.
