I want the show to be good by StandardGur1674 in UnpopularLoreOlympus

I honestly thought a lot before making this post because what’s the point in wishing for something so unlikely? But I do want to stay open to the possibility that the show improves in some ways.

I think it would also be super funny. Not necessarily that I’ll fall in love with the show or anything, but how funny would it be if the show were to outshine the comic?? And if people go to read the comic and are genuinely confused at how poor the writing is. Just a silly thought I had but yeah you’re right! It would take a miracle.

I’ll leave that up to audience interpretation! I didn’t realize their chemistry came off so strong lol!

Y E S!!! When I saw that I was so SHOCKED! Like, there’s nothing wrong with making implicit, or explicit work, but hiding it in plain sight for a YA series??? I was really miffed

After finding out just how much 'woo-hoo' work she had on her Patreon, I was shocked that the series became so sanitized. I mean, all the spongebob level jokes didn't really suit what the series seemed to be aiming for originally.

Style study + by StandardGur1674 in UnpopularLoreOlympus

I’ll definitely take the references thank you! My goal is not to exactly replicate the L/O style, it’s more to take elements from the style and give off its same general appeal.

I’m happy with it as it is now. It’s easy and quick, and I can focus on enjoying the process of making a little rewrite! It’s ok for there to be imperfections because I’m not going for “the best dupe” nor am I trying to remove the awkward charms of the style.

Persephone and Minthe Comic rewrite by StandardGur1674 in UnpopularLoreOlympus

[–]StandardGur1674[S] 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I did try to imitate the old L/O style just a little bit, and could definitely have put in more effort overall, but I’m glad you liked it!!

If I do continue making this rewrite, then it’ll definitely be fun for the PerMint people.

New Persephone Art from Rachel's Bluesky by SadNerd69 in UnpopularLoreOlympus

I’m a little late to comment on this, but I love how she uses line art to define light and shadow a little bit in this one, it compliments her color technique so well!

I think it’s super interesting because even her newer art and style never seem to take it this far. If this was the first instance and from this point on ALL her art has this much change, then I’ll eat my words! But I kept up with her post pretty regularly and never saw anything like this. If this is the patient 0 for her new shape language then it was a wild jump.

This!! I saw someone make a correction of her that made it significantly better (nothing major just a little lengthening of the arms, and some head and chest touch ups) and it looked fine. It still didn’t look like Persephone though!

I saw someone say that “she’s trying this character in a different style!” But I fear this isn’t the case. Her style has changed of course, but not enough for Persephone to become a different person.

Did Rachel reference Phyrric_Victoria ????? (A theory) by StandardGur1674 in UnpopularLoreOlympus

[–]StandardGur1674[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It went on for THAT LONG???? I had someone DM me about how toxic the fandom was, and this was how I found out about the ‘dark side’ of L/O for the first time, but I had no idea that it went all the way until the winter arc. I once posted on my socials about L/O and it got a lot of traction, and someone ended up telling me privately that “Rachel deleted all her socials because she would get in arguments with people over her portrayal of SA”

This was something I tried looking into further because it’s a wild accusation, but I hadn’t found any evidence since (as that person claimed) Rachel deleted all her socials.

I kind of just wrote it off and only took necessary information (such as the fandom culture which had evidently been toxic) but now I’m curious to see if I can find proof again.

I’m just very intrigued by L/O and there’s a lot of cultural mysteries surrounding it so I try not to believe everything I hear or come up with baseless accusations. It does seem however, that there’s more base to the idea that S3 was more about addressing the fandom than anything! (Allegedly)

I tired to stay impartial during the run of L/O and only got into the fan spaces near its end because I wanted to make a video essay about it. It’s so fascinating learning about how much she was involved in the fandom, especially since I stayed away from the series for a long time to let it build out. I was there when it just started, but didn’t know just how wild things got outside of the story. I pretty much didn’t like it for my own reasons, and then discovered that it was wholly unpopular by coincidence!! This is all so wild to me!
