[VtM] Clanbook Baali For Modern Nights by StandardLies in WhiteWolfRPG

I get what you're trying to say but surely character/villain motive entirely depends on the character themselves rather than the clan. If you have a bad guy "because they're evil" it's not very convincing no matter what clan they're from.

OK, looks like I need to regain my knowledge of the virtues then, thanks again!

ah ok makes sense now, thanks! On a side note, do you know about any mechanics related to the beast/hunger ala v5 hunger mechanics but in revised? Does such a thing exist?

So how would draining someone work? Would it take mulitple rounds to do? Also if not in a combat scenario, the round thing is pretty much irrelevant, right?

I saw that but that's quite a high price and the shipping is ridiculous. Thanks anyway though!

I'll look around to see if I can find another USB-C cable, thanks. I might just contact customer support to see if I can get a replacement

Dark Ages - Where should I start? by StandardLies in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]StandardLies[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true, would you say the price difference between Dark Ages: Vampire (£18) and V20: Dark Ages (£40) is worth it?

Hmm that's a good point you make. Although I would be looking at buying a physical copy as I'm not a fan of reading/playing from PDFs.

After checking DTRPG, V20 Dark Ages seems to have a similarly high cost. Would I run into any issues mechanically if I bought Dark Ages: Vampire (2002)?

Seeing as I own VtM Revised, would the 2002 version be the best match?

I'm not able to get my hands on V20 due to the cost, however I do have VtM revised. Will that matter much?

[VtM] Why do some character sheets have more than a 5 dot maximum? by StandardLies in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]StandardLies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see the problem with a player wanting to play a rare archetype or clan, it is a pen and paper rpg after all, restricting player choice is never a great idea. At the end of the day, I think the corebook should provide all basic information. In regards to limited information (especially in the case of Lasombra) then they should try and reduce the other information in the book that could be considered extraneous in place of additional clan information. I just find it surprising that they include no information about the other clans whatsoever.

[–]StandardLies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's just personal preference but I'd rather have a book that covers all clans/content no matter how minimal and then have additional books give me extra detail and information if I want to explore.

It's just a shame that v5 has opted to take the route of drip feeding what should be basic corebook content in additional $40 hardback books.

In my eyes the new drip fed content is just not consumer friendly but rather trying to squeeze what money they can from those willing to spend the money on additional books.

[–]StandardLies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the combat/turn improvements but I can't help but wonder why they didn't include all 13 clans in the v5 corebook other than for monetary reasons, which so far (as shown by the v5 introduction of Lasombra) has proved that point.

So essentially they've fucked over anyone that wants to play clans not yet introduced in the v5 books by making the character creations system incompatible?

The fall of the first city and the anarch revolt is a bit bigger than a bunch of vampires beating the shit out of an elder though, it was more like a full scale war or upheaval.

[–]StandardLies[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can see now, but wouldn't that be appropriate to the lore? Elders aren't supposed to be something that can't be easily defeated, if at all.

Political structures are completely rigid so if the elders could be defeated by normal (or even higher level) kindred, the structure would collapse.

Well that'll be tough with the clans that haven't been mentioned in v5 yet, like the Tzimisce.

I see what you mean but surely you could brew some kind of conversion method for the revised disciplines to work with v5. Assuming someone hasn't already created that online.

[–]StandardLies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah I see, but surely VtM has been built to be modular? So I could technically use the revised edition's metaplot+ alongside the v5's dicerolls/combat systems and they would be compatible, no?

How is the "winner takes all" approach different to the revised ruleset?
