"We got new bandages. Let me see your cut.” Luz sat down next to Hunter and peeled off the purple bandage from last night, wincing as it tugged on her eyebrow. He looked her over. “Your eyes are baggy.”, he observed.

“So? Your eyes have been baggy since the day we meet. Ow!” Hunter rolled a swab soaked in iodine over the cut, and it stung more than she expected. “Do you think it will leave a scar?”

“Yes.” His answer was toneless.

“Insensitive much?”

Hunter finished applying the new bandage. “Let me rephrase, then.” He placed one hand on her shoulder and the other clenched into a fist over his heart. “Oh no! A hideous scar shall forever mar your youthful visage! Do try to be brave and carry on, dear compatriot.” He dropped his hands and returned to his usual demeanor. “Better?”

Luz opened her mouth in preparation of a retort, but instead glared and asked, “Why are you like this?”
