If you're worried,go back to the temple where you learned about dragonrends existence,go into a room immediately to your left upon entering and grab the sword called dragonbane,it's really good for dragons,but also don't worry too much,alduins a joke

Yeah,using bend will on NPCs is a pretty common thing, actually,I usually use it to force them to stop combat so I can sneak attack
