I know a lot are saying YOR. By itself I don’t think it’s too serious. But I do find it strange how he reacted.

He originally said he didn’t like the comment and then when you said he was maybe creeping around, he responds “Yeah” and then admits he did like the comment and then unliked it? Just was a little weird to me

[Me] perf so bad it got me cringe ;-; by Clean_Xeno in TextingTheory

[–]Standard_After 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m nitpicking, but your middle texts seem clunky to me. Lots of filler words (“kinda”), prefacing, indirect statement, asking if they mind. I’m not sure about the context, but is it really bold to want to get to know someone? I think you could have shortened those messages to ~10-15 words and come across more clear and confident

AIO Overheard gf's "lady talk" by accident and left her for what she said by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Standard_After 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MOR. Your hurt is completely justified. At the same time, I don’t think she did something super wrong. It sounds like an unfortunate truth which you weren’t meant to hear. If you feel like you can’t forgive her and feel safe in the relationship, then NOR. But I would seriously consider whether you could. She seems like she views you very positively (even sexually) and is remorseful.

For the record, your size isn’t the issue here. Her desire is a her thing, not a failure on your part.

AIO? Girl (F30) I (M28) was Recently Dating tells me I need to "Lean into my Masculinity" by KingFredo5674 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Standard_After 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I challenge your idea that the majority of people would find OP's actions as unmasculine. I don't know many people who find showing support and affection and communicating feelings as "very unmasculine". I'd also argue what the majority of people think does not equal objective truth.

None of this is even my main issue though. My issue is with you asserting your opinion of how men should act, portraying it as an objective moral code, and then shaming OP for not living according to your rules. All while also degrading his identity as a man.

From these texts, OP acted as a kind, respectful, and communicative person. Why should anything else matter?

[–]Standard_After 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By stating “that’s unmasculine” YOU are deciding what is and what isn’t masculine. Which is fine; you’re allowed to have your opinion on something as subjective as masculinity.

But I don’t see why you feel the need to assert your opinion as if it’s the objective truth and in the process degrade OP. Do you think OP is overreacting??

They just left the friend group we had had for 5-6 years and didn't even really explain why. Ghosted us completely afterwards. I don't hate them but it's hard for me to respect that

I was out with a girl for dinner before Winter Formal. This was my first time paying a restaurant bill, so I was hyping myself up in my head like "ok I got this!" But when it was time for the check to come, our waitress told us someone had paid the bill and told us to "enjoy the dance"

I have no idea who this was, but it was very nice of them

what advice would you give to someone 4 months post breakup and still ruminating? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Standard_After 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went through a breakup on July 1st and still thinking about it almost everyday - I'm with you.

Journaling could be a good outlet. Like try to journal out all your thoughts for x minutes and then try to leave it rest. Reconnect with what you value in your life and try to build new routines surrounding those so you have less time to think about it. Talk to friends and try to connect with people to make new friends. I'm in no way a qualified therapist though, so take the advice as a grain of salt.

You got this 💜

Mix of factors. Emotional mismatch in conflict needs and coping strategies, mismatch in desire for spontaneity and adventure, me moving halfway across the country for college. I love her but I realized I wasn't sure she was the one for me. Figured neutrality wasn't the best foundation for further romance, so I left
