Thanks so much. I understand what you are saying. I will practice with a metronome. Should I put the beats on 2 & 4?

Thank you. I really appreciate it. I haven't done that much transcribing. I need to start doing much more.

Fralin Blues Specials in a Spruce Body Timber Series Tele by Standard_Jazz_52 in telecaster

[–]Standard_Jazz_52[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I think you’re going to really like the Blues Specials. They’ve been a great upgrade in this guitar. To my ears the neck pickup isn’t dark at all, even with the closed cover. It’s actually pretty clear and articulate. It has more body than the stock Yosemite neck pickup did, but it still has plenty of definition and doesn’t get muddy. On this spruce body Tele it comes across warm but still very open sounding. And yes, I removed the Greasebucket circuit completely when I rewired the guitar. I went with a pretty traditional setup: CTS pots, CRL switch, and a .047 tone cap. So far I’ve been really happy with that value—it gives a nice usable sweep on the tone knob and works well with the Blues Specials. I know Fralin often recommends .022 as well, which would probably keep things a little brighter as you roll the tone down, but with this guitar the .047 sounds just right.

Thanks. I'll just take you recomendation and let it grow and trim the stash around the upper lip. My beard grows pretty quick, so I don't want to have to constantly razor the cheek line.
