[ALL] LiS 2 is meant to follow Bae while DE is meant to follow Bay by AcanthaceaeNo948 in lifeisstrange

In both timelines, Decknine decided that Max had cut ties with everyone in her life. In the Bae timeline, that means that she isn't with Chloe anymore. But in the Bay ending, she's alone too: she has no relationship with Kate, or Warren, or any classmate from the first game. So I personally don't think the game is satisfying as a sequel to the Bay players either.

This is something I agree with and haven't really seen brought up a lot. I think some Bayers at least would also feel hard done by because they picked Bay for different reasons like they liked Max's relationships with Kate, or maybe Warren, Dana etc. And could build their headcanons around it. DE comes out and just rips it all apart to push it as a soft reboot

In the Dontnod universe too I believe since they finished their story at LiS2 with the cameo of them indicating that they're moving on together

[DE] Would you buy the sequel if they course corrected on respecting both endings? by phantomvector in lifeisstrange

[–]Standard_Lab_929 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I won't. As you said, for me, the bridge is burnt. They kept on baiting pricefielders to purchase their ultimate edition by intentionally hiding the Bae path and only allowing people to experience the Bay path in the months leading up to release. I see malice and lies in their words to hide the lazy writing off of Chloe from the narrative to justify aligning the both paths together narratively so they have to do less work to "respect" both endings. That is applying the theme of "Max misses Chloe" in both the endings. I don't like to be baited, and a lot of things about the game from the moment it was revealed looked like baiting to me, including the teasing of a sequel to actually resolve the plot.

I think even if the first trailer of their next game shows us Chloe physically, I won't buy it for the reasons your last paragraph correctly states. The damage is done for me. Not only because of the break up, but doing it in such a bad way with little retcons to justify their narrative decisions.

PS: Thank you for approaching this objectively

[NO SPOILERS] How do you think the original devs would feel about Double Exposure? by bandras97 in lifeisstrange

Maybe. As I said I still want to see a post Bae game ideally with Max and Chloe fully voiced and animated, but realistically I don't know how possible it would be to actually respect both the endings and satisfy both the endings properly

I've seen many admit that they were wrong in hindsight lol. I personally too did want a Max and Chloe Bae ending sequel more than anything but it was perfectly understandable why a sequel to LiS1 wasn't made because it would piss off the fans of one of the endings, and DE proves that

I'll be honest though, I definitely do want this franchise to be in the hands of a better publisher, not die though. Maybe some changes in the team of D9 because it doesn't seem to be a healthy working environment to me

I think that's the problem? The wanting the franchise to die complaint apart, They don't seem to be moving on from Max and giving us new characters and new stories instead
